Building Hot Rod Model Cars: Create your own scale Hot Rod model cars for fun.

I liked Bruce Kimball's enthusiasm and writing, but be aware there isn't much here. I was really hoping for a lot more. I found Mr. Kimball's approach to building these models to be the vary rudimentary, and there is almost nothing by way of helping with tips and tricks. One might find the information shared in just the instructions of any Moebius, Revell or AMT model to be more informative. I did like Mr. Kimball's whimsical ending story at the back of this book. it was pretty COOL. However if you are looking to even get started in model car building I would highly recommend the following.Model Car Builders by Roy Sorenson. These run about $10.00 each and just one of these is packed with a hundred times more info than this book.Scale Auto Magazine. Any one of this magazines issues will go a lot further in helping with building skills.Build and Detail Model Cars Like A pro by Terry Jessee. I personally found this book to be supper helpful.Another helpful way of gaining building skills is to watch some YouTube. I found it extremely helpful to find a few YouTube videos related to a model I was actually building. It made the whole building process more exciting for me.All in all I'm glad this book exists if only to help keep model building alive. I also know that although I didn't find this book to be very helpful many people are BIG fans. I think that's OK too. The important thing is to get started and have FUN.

Interesting reading

I was excited to get this as being a model car builder for 20 years but when i opened it up It was all messed up to the point the first 25 pages could barely be understood. Half of the pages were cutoff at a weird angle, The printing was all on an angle to for the first 25 pages as well. From page 26 on everything was fine, I dont know if i just got a bad one or there all like this. From what i was able to read i enjoyed it, Just wish i could have read the first half of the book to!!

Great inspiration. Brings me back to when I built models as a boy. I plan on referring to this when I pick up the hobby again even more seriously.

Geared for a 12 year old The old model car books had more info. Picks were good. Felt riped off

Similar in style to the "bookazines" found in WH Smith--it's the size of a magazine, but has more content--this has some useful hints and tips. Perhaps aimed at the beginner, the experienced car modeller will find this useful too, particularly if you have one or more of the kits used in you stash. The only problems were the formatting and spelling mistakes (perhaps this could be looked at by an editor?) hence only 4 stars. Having said that, it's not too distracting. Worth getting.
