This supplement seems to help with my gluten sensitivity. In Europe, butyric acid is added to pig feed. It eliminates porcine diarrhea by promoting a healthy intestinal endothelium. This allows the animals to stay healthy and gain weight on less feed, an obvious advantage to any pig-raising operation. Pigs have a physiology that is very similar the humans. Butyric acid can help heal your intestinal endothelium and promote bowel health just as it does in pigs. This is very helpful if you have any kind of IBS or other celiac disease such as gluten sensitivity. But if you are gluten sensitive, this does not mean you can start eating gluten again. Eating just a small amount of gluten will always re-start the auto-immune process of gluten sensitivity, which destroys your intestinal endothelium whether or not you are taking butyric acid supplements. Stop eating gluten and start taking butyric acid regularly to heal any damage and maintain proper bowel health. You will probably eat some gluten from time to time inadvertently no matter how careful you are, especially at a potluck meal or in a restaurant. You'll notice the effect a day or two later (e.g., smelly farts and loose stools.) Avoid any and all gluten, and keep up with you daily butyric acid supplementation, and maybe take an extra capsule more than what you usually take with each meal for a few days. You should notice a difference in a few days. Stay with the regimen, it's worth the extra trouble and expense of buying the supplements. BTW, this is not the only butyric acid supplement I take, but if I could only take one, this would be it, because it is micro-encapsulated and releases the butyric acid gradually. But I also take ButyrAid, a different butyric acid supplement that is in hard tablet form instead of gelatin capsules; this supplement is also sold on Amazon. I take both every day just to be sure I am getting enough butyric acid. Note that there are many other butyric acid supplements on the market you also might want to try to see which works best for you.

Butyric Acid is a short chain fatty acid that has anti-inflammatory properties, and also has a positive effect on metabolism and immunity. Butyric Acid is made in our colon by certain species of bacteria, but some people are deficient in these bacteria and can't make enough. In this product, the Butyric Acid is combined with magnesium and calcium. I eat a high mag diet but I'm still deficient in it, and I have never been able to take a magnesium supplement without terrible GI upset. Magnesium is good for anxiety and sleep. I've been taking these pills now for several months. I'm sleeping so much better than I was, and daytime anxiety levels have fallen. There doesn't seem to be any side effect other than I feel so much better for getting better sleep.So this really is a great combination for me. It would be great if they could develop a delivery system that got more of the butyric acid into the distal colon where it reduces cancer risk. But I'm happy with the improvement I'm seeing since starting this supplement.

Even if it taste bad and smelly, the value of this product is great. It helped my wife's gut tremendously.

I didn't know this at the time of purchase, but this has calcium and quite a lot of it, which will calcify your heart valves. I would not use this and am unhappy I purchased it. If you don't believe me, ask your cardiologist.

This product has changed my life. It has made going to the bathroom painless and quick. I am able to completely eliminate ideal bowel movements.

I ordered this supplement on the advice of a thyroid dysfunction forum leader, in hopes of stimulating my thyroid and increasing my metabolism. I can't say that I have seen any change in the month+ that I have been taking this. The smell is awful and lingers on your hands, so take them quickly and wash your hands after. A bit pricey to not have any noticeable benefits. The true test will be when I have my next Hemoglobin A1C test to see if my blood sugar has dropped (another reason I bought this).
