Shure SRH240A Professional Quality Headphones

Finally, just about anyone can afford a truly exception pair of audio headphones. Amazon fulfills these at $58 a pair, and for that price, this is a true bargain. I expect this price will go up soon as demand will rise. Time Magazine rated these phones number 1 over many, many popular and far more expensive models, including Beats, Sony, and Grado. Now I know why.So here's what I learned about these phones. Packaging is exceptional, quality and professional. The phones are over the ear and very comfortable. They muffle outside sounds adequately though they are not noise cancelling. You don't feel a sweaty pinch on your ears after wearing these for awhile. The cord is medium length and adequate. The sound is wonderful, and highs, lows, balancing, and intended background sounds are crisp and clean. Excellent performance when listening from a computer, cd player, stereo, television, or phone or pod. The sound from my 42 inch RCA LCD was beautifully amplified (you know how terrible the sound is on these tv's unaided). I compared my Grado audiophile reference grade phones on this TV with the Shures, and though the Shures should not have sounded better, deeper and richer, they provided perhaps 20-30 percent clearer, louder sound, over the Grados. This makes the Shures perfect for TV, gaming, Amazon streaming, and any other medium where many layers of sound are provided. So, there you have it. These phones are well worth the 58 bucks. These really are the real deal.

Very comfortable on the ears/head. I have several of this brand and mostly buy them for comfort. But sound is good too!

I got these headphones after reading many reviews of existing top rated amazon products. I would compare these with many of the entry level headphones which will produce sufficient sound quality for those looking for easy listening.Sound Quality:The sound quality is very nice. The highs and the lows are clear. However as many reviewers mentioned, the bass won't blow your brains (which is why I got them). There is a noticeable amount of sound leak to the outside world if you're cranking the volume up high. Despite the non-noise-canceling/isolation, it does a good job of blocking the outside noise too.Build:The build quality is fair, but I am slightly worried that the adjustment joint may become worn out over time. Besides that I've only had these for a month and they are holding up well. I tripped over the cord several times since they are so long, but the joint is still in tact. Also these look great while wearing, mainly because they don't stick out as much as other heavy duty cans.Comfort:While these headphones are pretty great all-around for the price, the only gripe may be that they are slightly too tight. Maybe it's because I have a bigger head/ears than some, but the top portion of my ears get crushed and starts hurting after extensive listening (~1hr+). For short term use, it doesn't bother me as much. It's also a plus that they don't pressurize the inside of your ears with air as some other headphones do.$$:Many of the Amazon listings are over $50, but I got these for $34 after tax and free shipping from Capritron in perfect condition. If you're paying more than $40, I would wait or look elsewhere.Overall:This headphone will be my main listening pair for a while and I am definitely satisfied with my purchase. There are many headphone brands out there at around the similar price range (Sennheisser/Sony/AT) and I believe these pair compete very well. Absolutely not recommended for super-audiophiles, but for average listener, this will give you an extremely pleasant listening experience. It looks cool, sounds great, and really cheap if you know where to look. Just don't wear them for hours at a time.

I play my keyboard with headphones so I don't disturb anyone. The sound from these headphonesis better than the sound of my Yamaha keyboard without them. The price was very reasonable &they are comfortable. After I received these, I was very glad I did not spend several hundred dollarsfor a more expensive pair.
