I mainly use it on the outside to prevent any type of rust and use something else to clean and lubricate the internals. It does do a good job cleaning as well its just a little harder to get all of it off but if you want something that has no smell, plant based and cleans /lubricates then it should be your go to.

I really like this stuff. It doesn't take much to oil down a firearm. So much simpler than trying to apply gun oil from a bottle

I've tried dozens of different CLP's on side arms, antique rifles and modern semi-automatics, and I'm most impressed with this one and I doubt if I ever change to anything else. Personally, I prefer the paste to the liquid because I don't go through the product as quickly. I like it because it has gotten crap out of the barrel that I have been unable to get out with other products. The other biggest advantage is that a lot of the ammunition I shoot is either corrosive or extremely dirty. Everything comes off like a charm. I have several Mosin's, one of which had a very difficult bolt. After disassembly and two applications of froglube (heat metal, apply product, let cool & clean) everything moves smooth as silk. Unlike oil based products, this can be used inside without the need for extra ventelation. Other positives: Safe to use, won't harm skin, poses no danger to people or pets and it smells really good.Important note to anybody who has any weapons that have been packed in cosmoline: Froglube and cosmoline don't play together all that well. Over time, FL will break cosmoline down, but until then the combination will create somewhat of a gummy gunk. Absolutely, positively remove every bit of cosmoline from the metal, by either using mineral spirits, denatured or isoprophol alcohol, or boiling hot water. I would also recommend thoroughly removing any from the furniture that comes in contact with the metal.To be completely objective, the only down side to this product is its expense. Between the tiny bottles of solvent and the CLP, you can expect to spend anywhere from 15 to 40 bucks, depending on what product or combination of, you purchase. Also, you will need to get rid of all oil based solvents, cleaners and other CLP products, as this system replaces them all.Update 12/1/2013I've tried several other "non-hazardous" CLP products, at considerable expense and I'm just going to stick to Frog Lube. You will probably read this in other reviews or in web forums, but it's imperative that you remove all petroleum based lubes as best you can AND "season" two or three times. I use either a really warm blow dryer or a heat gun, and heat the metal up to at least 180 degrees, apply the product and then let it cool to room temperature. After converting at least 6 Mosin 91/30's, the ubiquitous bolt stick that usually occurs after a few dozen rounds in quick succession, is gone. The bolt is just as smooth on the 100th round as it is on the first or second.

Have not tried the liquid. The paste works well for me when applied on hot metal to create a very thin layer on internal and external parts. Make sure to wipe off excess. Outstanding rust prevention. Nice minty smell. Great lubricity. Would not recommend for extremely cold climates. Overall, almost perfect, just wish it maintained its properties in a wider range of conditions (like milspec lubes).

I have a lot of guns of different types and Ive tried a lot of gun lubes and this is some of the best I’ve used. And a great bonus to this great product is that the company is veteran owned!

Starts off as a gel (where they get "paste" I will never know) and quickly liquefies as you work with it. It has a very interesting feel to it when you use it; it is not greasy or oily at all. Let's see how it stacks up as a CLP product.CLEANS:9 out of 10. This breaks up carbon pretty good on its own, but I still like solvents better for deep cleaning gunk. Especially the baked on stuff that can show up on the breach and inside the barrel. So I start with something a bit harsher and then finish up with the Frog Lube. In other areas I use the Frog Lube and it works just great.LUBES:10 out of 10. Nice,slick feel without the greasy residue that others can leave behind. The lubricating property of this is not an oil, soap or wax feel to it; it is not something I have experienced before. Definitely a lighter, cleaner feeling lube than anything else I have used.PROTECT:Based of of other reviews I have read on-line (Google CLP reviews), Frog Lube outperforms most others. For me, most notably - Strike Hold. And I must admit, the non-greasy aspect of this product comes through again. The problem with many others is that the greasy residues of other CLP products means that they are prone to attract dust. This does not happen with Frog Lube.Bottom line - I really like this. It is harsh to use at all and when you are all done with the cleaning, your hands actually feel pretty nice. Almost like you have been using a hand moisturizer. All in all, this is my new favorite CLP for my guns. Strike Hold is now being used more in my tool drawer and not my gun safe.
