Solid build and easy install
My home, built in 2010, was wired with CAT5e for voice. Nobody uses POTS lines in 2022. Ripped off the rats nest of electrical wire nuts and decided to patch this down properly. Presto - the house now has wired Ethernet in every room! This is a really solid patch panel. The frame and cover are metal, and screws are thumb screws (except for the mounting hardware). Like some other customers, I removed the two small screws holding down the circuit board in order to mount the unit to the wall. The metal cable clips are intended for shielded twisted pair cable, but they double as an additional support for clean routing of UTP. You will need a good 110-style punch tool to terminate. If you don't own one - see if you have a friend that works in IT infrastructure that can loan you one for the weekend.

Well built, easy to install
Purchased this unit to cleanup after moving the central location to the network.Unit is all metal, well built and installation was easy. Hardware provided is great for installation.I read some reviews that were very helpful, a summary:- Removed the PCB with the two screws (see arrows in picture), which allowed me to install from the smaller mounting holes.- Punch down tool is not included. Terminal blocks are 110 IDC (use 110 or Krone type tool).Minor item, no big deal:- The ground cable is a bit short, and grounding screw is only on one side.Very happy with the results.

Perfect for home installation
I got lucky and discovered all of my phone jacks throughout the house were wired with CAT5e. I very quickly re-terminated the ends and installed this patch panel in the basement to take advantage of my home's new found superpowers. It was very easy to install, strain relief is awesome, it came with it's own perfectly sized cable ties (which I promptly misplaced) and it feels absolutely solid.I put labels on the outer shell and they look terrible because of the divots in the metal. If I was to do it again, I'd put the label flat and floating over the valleys rather than contouring the labels to the cover. Maybe I'd put a strip of packing tape over the whole back to flatten it out first. That was really the only frustrating thing about it.

Excellent punch-down setup... minor design flaws
"Cutting the cable" meant adding devices. So many that I decided to network everything. I went with TPLINK on the managed switch and TrendNet for the patch panel. Nice product with zero issues in wiring it in place. Remove the metal shield plate, punch down the wires, add the retaining clips and zip-tie the cables. Lots of room and easy-to-read, individual A or B wiring diagrams for all 24 ports.Three minor gripes:1. The RJ45s don't seem to "snap" into place. They lock in but I like hearing that "click".2. The 2 shield plate screws have to be completely removed in order to access the inner workings. It would be great if the shield plate was cut in a way that simply loosening the screws would allow for the plate's removal.3. The ground wire could be 6 inches longer. I have a grounding block in the back of my NavePoint 9U cabinet. When adding a new cable, I had to disconnect the ground wire to allow me to pull the patch panel out. I have since fixed this issue by extending it with a copper spring ground extension (see photo).

Great product for the price!
To the reviewer that states you can only mount this with the slotted holes… They are wrong, you can remove two screws and pop the board out and get directly to the non slotted holes. Product seems very sturdy and of good quality.

Excellent Design!
Very innovative design, much easier to punch down than a traditional patch panel. Looks good, compact design. Holds wires without having to bend them near the punch down block. 12 ports is perfect for small office / home networks. I will definitely be buying this again for my next small office wiring project.

Great standalone patch panel
This was used to patch cat 6a RJ45 cables fed from house to garden office cabin and to internal cabin network points, the great thing is this is a small unit and fits perfectly in the media wall cupboard alongside a gigabit switch. Was unaware that these existed as normally work with large data cabinets with 19” panels. Needed this quickly and could have saved a couple of quid if bought elsewhere. Installation was a breeze and didn’t take long.
