Faster than 7200RPM drives
I was really apprehensive purchasing a renewed drive but the price was simply too good for a 4TB drive. I immediately put it through various tests through Seagate Seatools utility. It passed the self test, short term generic test and the long term generic ( It ran for 10 Hrs !!) test. It passed all of them. The health status on Speccy is also all good.I then ran it through the crystaldiskmark for a speed test. It is head and shoulders above my two 1TB 7200 RPM Western Digital and Toshiba drives (see attached screen shots). I must say I'm pleasantly surprised.I will observe its performance and hopefully post a long term update few months down the line but right now the drive looks legit and healthy.

the 3 year Amazon warranty is real
Use: 24 AHCI SATA3 bay JBOD/DAS. The ST4000NC001's are generally paired with new ST4000DM004's because of how the LVM pools are organized for RAID array assignment. I have 6@ ST4000NC001's so far and may buy more for spares. The DAS is eSATA attached to a SuperMicro virtual desktop server which supports 6 Raspberry Pi clients at the moment. Yes, this is a hobby.I like the low power, quiet, CMR, and warranty properties. The cooling fans are louder at their quietest (12vdc fans operating at 3.5vdc). The DAS is about 7' from my head in my office. One of the ST4000NC001's developed 8 bad sectors at over 3 months of 7x24 operation. Alternate sectors were automatically assigned so the drive was still fully functional. The vendor replaced that drive (RMA) in a 1 week turnaround. For drive acceptance, I surface test each drive with "badblocks" using 0xAA, 0x55, 0xFF, & 0x00 bit patterns. A 4TB test takes over 3 days to complete.

Only 2 months and failing. Save your money
Bought the drive for a backup of photos. Drive was fast and seemed to be great. After about 45 days, the backup software I user started failing backups with a Cyclic Redundancy Check error. Scan the drive and nothing. Tried to manually sync with Robobopy and same thing. It would hit one file and fail. Tried to copy the file in windows and fail again. Finally i deleted the file (it is the back up anyway) and copied it from main drive back. Everything fine how.About a week later, ran backup and boom CRC error again. Checked and totally different file, same issue. Same steps as above and and all good again. New years day, loaded all the pictured from the night and same thing again. NO idea what is wrong with this drive but something definitely is. It is going in the garbage and buying a drive that is not "RENEWED" ... Not worth the possible loss of 10,000 photos...

Hello blue skies with my 4TB hard drive!
Wow! I'm stunned at what a fantastic deal this was. I was stunned when I first saw the listing and I'm stunned using it right now with my laptop. It's perfect. Now, I wouldn't do the vendor justice if I didn't mention the professionalism, care, and attention to detail with which my product was treated, so I will do so now. Packaging was absolutely first-class, with protective barriers on every side of this monster, making sure my baby was fully secure during the entire shipping process. I really am grateful to them for so much consideration and professionalism! I was really surprised and delighted by that, and it added to a positive experience. I formatted the drive for use with my Windows laptop as a storage external (docked) set up (which it needed) and am enjoying the freedom right now. Love it, and where can you get a better deal?!?! I mean come on!! I may swipe up one more while I'm at it, just to get the fantastic cheap storage. So far, all is running perfectly clean and clear, like a BRAND new 4TB drive. So happy and thrilled about it!!

Good fast reliable and affordable
I've used these 3.5" large capacity drives for years with very little problems. You should expect to get about 4 years of dependable storage..but DONOT fill it to more than 80% capacity or you stand a much greater risk of data loss... as in files that were just there yesterday will be missing today. the drive may lose files as it allocates it's remaining free space. Also, it gets kinda' hot so keep it spaced away fom other drives and a cooling fan in the case near it will help

Nice base enterprise drives for a good price
I got 5 of these to install in an old QNAP TS-559 Pro (RAID 5) device that holds my movies for my Plex server.Drives arrived sealed in anti-static bags and individually packed in boxes and plastic packing. They looked brand new when I opened them. Not even screw marks or finger prints.NAS recognized them immediately (I did verify on QNAP's site before hand that they were compatible) and I'm off and running.I'd buy from this seller again in a heart beat. A nice deal.

Great price for an NAS rated, 24/7 drive
I purchased five of these renewed drives. Four had no issues but one had slow speeds and some reallocated sectors. But the Amazon return policy was painless. I just brought it to the UPS store and they scanned the code Amazon gave me. Then UPS packed it up and shipped it back to Amazon. I had my refund within 24 hours. The other four drives have been working great in an unRAID server. And I've written or read from them almost 24/7 over the past couple weeks. As unRAID did parity checks and restored data to the drives. So far I've been very pleased. $60 for an NAS rated 4TB drive was an excellent deal.
