Q: Would this be ok for a beginner?

Yes it is very easy….I would say I am a complete novice and wanted a holder for a plant in my window(a spider plant) so this was perfect…..I have since repotted it as the plant seems very happy and has grown!

Q: How long is the holder once a pot is inside and it's hanging?

From top to bottom its about 87cm or 34in from hanging hook to bottom of pot

Mine holds a 30cm diameter pot.

Just the hanger. The pots I have are about 8in x 8in but smaller ones eould work. They are so nice I would buy a pot & plant just to fit.
