Why Philips is the BEST or Better than the Best one thinks in Market
I never had any problem with Philips bulbs, be them CFL or LED. Some of the CFL bulbs that run for over 12 hrs a day, surprisingly are still running after 7 yrs. Those days, Bajaj too had tubes with the adapter sold separately. Some those are running after almost 15 yrs now. Ever since I had begun replacing CFL with LED (that is almost 5 yrs now), I tried Wipro, Philips, Syska, Eveready, Crompton, Havels, Oreva and some other company less known but sold online. I had bought almost all of these online, but finally found Philips on the top and in second place we have a cat and mouse between Wipro, Crompton, Havels and Eveready. The rest actually have dull light, dull colour and Syska is the worst of them. The reaction on Wipro, Havels and Crompton are mixed. Not much experience with Eveready as yet but it does not stand along with Havels/ Crompton/ Wipro. Now, since past 2 yrs, I stick with Philips. Sasta roye baar-baar, mehenga roye eak baar. The quality of light, life and MTBF (Mean-Time Between Failures) is very high. For some reason, Bajaj brought down the quality of CFL and its product at one time. Especially their Fans consume more electricty than modern top quality split inveter airconditioners (Brands like Mitsubishi Heavy, Mitsubishi Electric or Blue Star). Two years ago, during my study, I learnt that the fans at home were less productive, more damaging to pocket and even though one may overlook their noise, they were very High on power bills. It got us to check their CFL consumption also. I must admit that in the early 2001, the quality of CFL sold by Bajaj were great. Philips was still the best. The survival of some CFL bulbs from the 2001 lot from Bajaj still run at home as they were in the low watt category. BUT they are consuming massive amount of electricty. Some may recall the Zero watt bulbs of the early time. They were actually 25 or 15 watts filament bulbs. With technology improving, these bulbs became efficient. The simple understanding of why power consumption is critical to every use is that for the same amount of power generated per person, the gadgets using power have increased and along with it the number of people using also increased. This has brought overloading of environment and natural assets on the planet earth. Advanced nations have managed to keep their population under control, but some areas have relentlessly added to the this burden. Another reason to look at power consumption is the fact that some products which are of poor quality, life expire too soon, thus adding to the waste. Good technologies come by with a lot of research and testing thereby adding to the value of outcome and value of your money. Here lay the difference. Philips is basically an R&D company with own manufacturing also. Over the years, Philips has reduced manufacturing and accelerated R&D. Surprisingly, Sony hardly has its own R&D or its own 100% product. Many technologies of Philips were sold to such brands. If the quality of the decided product is maintained, the end price will cost more and this cost can reduce IF and only IF the numbers go up and the raw material as well as the process and the technologies evolve to deliver better. Philips fortunately is in India, BUT should the chines material or technologies begin replacing it, we are more likely to be the bigger losers over the years than perhaps the western countries where the users are fewer.

Value for money. But very poor packaging.
Two products were packed in the same box. Two liters detergent was put on the bulbs & the outer pack was crushed, fortunately the bulbs were intact.
