Fairly good guide to the industry. It would have benefited from having a more robust section on special materials handling requirements/law instead it tends to skirt the issues a bit by reminding the reader that he/she needs to be aware of and in compliance with the law. Written more from a non-profit perspective. Overall worth a read if you are thinking of getting into this business. The information on pricing/purchasing used merchandise is very helpful.

Great book- clear and concise writing that was very informative.

I manage to find few tidbits in the book to start a thrift store. But, I realise there’s a lot of repetitive notes from chapters to chapters, i think the author is stressing too much on the same topic again & again. I hope I can find a book that tells the total experience of a thrift store owner.

Very helpful book. Our non profit was looking for a way to bring in more income and this book was the perfect way for us to make the checklist to get this baby off the ground.

Tells you the "very basic" information. I did a lot of research prior to ordering this book. This book did not and any value and I did not learn anything new from it. I would recommend this book to someone that has NOT done any research on their own and have no knowledge on how retail works at all. If this is you, this would be a perfect book for you. Again, it tells you the very basic almost common sense stuff.
