Best of Nitro Vol. 2
The box set was great and every match just kept getting better and better. It was classic NWA action at its best. The best matches on the set was Sting vs. Vampiro - House of Pain Match and Booker T vs. Scott Steiner - U.S. Championship vs. World Heavyweight Championship Match. DDP did a great and touching memory to "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Just like on Vol. 1 it's still shocking and unbelievable that a company who dominated WWE during the beginning of the Monday Night Wars fell to its knees and was sold by Time Warner/AOL as it was announced on March 26,2001 in Panama City,FL. WCW was another company like ECW and World Class Championship Wrestling that left behind not only a huge legacy and legends but also lots of young talents whose life's and career were altered by the sale of the company.

There could be vol.3 ?
First of all, thank you for everyone who involved to put this vol.2 out here as I am the fan of that era.I loved since the front-cover and a bunch of the lost great matches packed! Superb! But there could be more as I say, there are still have many great matches and great event on Monday Nitro during 1998-2001 until WCW legacy.I would love to relive again especially Warrior, Bret Hart, Goldberg, n.W.o Wolfpac, New Blood Rising or you could put it as Blu-ray 4-5 disc or whatever boxset is would be memorable for fan.I believe that the WCW Nitro titled is worth to do and for every fans in the globe.I hope to see Vol.3 possibly happen coming out end of 2013Cheers!!!

The Best of WCW Monday Nitro Volume 2
This three disc DVD is the second of three volumes that showcase the best of WCW Monday Nitro. It's a compilation of matches and moments. The set is once again hosted by Diamond Dallas Page. He does a good job as the host. He took us through WCW's history on the first volume so this time he more just gives us relevant anecdotes which are pretty interesting.Sting vs. Ric Flair - This was from the first episode of Nitro and was for the WCW United States Championship. The match is mainly remembered as the moment that Lex Luger shows up when he was thought to be under contract with WWE. He just showed up at the beginning but thankfully he didn't get involved in the match. The action of the match was good, it was a condensed version of the usual Sting vs. Flair fight. I wasn't a big fan of some of Sting's no-selling but that was the only thing wrong with the action. Otherwise it was pretty good. The finish sucked as we didn't get a result which was unfortunate but I was enjoying the match until that point. The match is followed by the infamous moment where Madusa throws the WWF Women's Championship in the trash.Hulk Hogan vs. Arn Anderson - This was a pretty good match. Hogan was going into this one with an eye injury. For the most part it was the typical Hogan formula match. Hogan was dominant, things got turned around until Hogan decided to hulk up. While I hate the hulk up thankfully the rest of the match was pretty good. It's formulaic but Anderson was a great opponent for Hulk. The action was always entertaining and I enjoyed the finish. It wasn't clean but gave us a decisive result so I had no problem with that. An enjoyable and entertaining main event style match. The Steiner Brothers vs. The Road Warriors - This was a good back and forth tag match. I wasn't expecting a lot when I saw the Road Warriors as they're typically very limited in the ring. They were at their best here though and managed to have an entertaining competitive match. The action was entertaining and there were some good counters and last second break-ups on pin-fall attempts. They had a good amount of time to work with and a strong and decisive finish. It wasn't a clean win but we at least got a satisfying result. The Steiners brought out the best in the Road Warriors.Jushin 'Thunder' Liger vs. Dean Malenko - Before this match we get a highlight package for WCW's cruiserweight division, showcasing some of the more impressive cruiserweights in Nitro's history. The match was a good back and forth fight. It was part of the cruiserweight division but they both wrestled with a technical style rather than the high risk one we usually see from the cruiserweights. The action was competitive and enjoyable and they had a good amount of time. The finish was clean and decisive and was an overall enjoyable contest.Rey Mysterio vs. Juventud Guerrera - This was for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship. It was an entertaining back and forth match with both men using their high flying offence. It kept a fast pace and had plenty of impressive maneouveres. The finish was almost missed when the cameras were on some pointless nWo thing backstage. Thankfully we see the finish but we do miss a bit of the build which hurt the match a bit. It was still an enjoyable cruiserweight battle but without that nWo thing it would have felt better and more important. This was followed by a segment called 'Eric Bischoff's Biggest Regret'.Diamond Dallas Page vs. Jeff Jarrett - This was the quarter finals of a tournament to crown a new WCW United States Championship. It was a decent match. Jarrett controlled most of the action with DDP trying to come back. The finish at least gave us a result but it was unfortunately affected by the nWo. It was a part of the story-line where people were wondering if DDP was affiliated with the nWo. The match was decent, the finish wasn't great but the angle at least seemed interesting. This was followed by Kevin Nash's 'patching up potholes' promo, it was a good promo, not sure if it's one of Nitro's best moments but I didn't mind it's inclusion. Then we see Hulk Hogan making "Sting" worship him before being interrupted by the real Sting.Ric Flair vs. Scott Hall - This was an entertaining match. Flair tried to use his veteran experience to fight off Hall but Hall's power advantage led to him controlling most of the action. They had a good amount of time and it stayed entertaining. It didn't get a proper finish which was a shame. It didn't hurt things too much as they just kept on fighting so we still got a decent conclusion to the segment even if it wasn't a satisfying result to the match. That closes out the first disc. The second starts with a highlight package of the various celebrities that have been involved in story-lines on Nitro and then a relevant segment with Hollywood Hogan and Dennis Rodman calling out Lex Luger and The Giant.Rey Mysterio vs. Kevin Nash - This was just a squash match. Mysterio hit a flurry of offence to start with but Nash was too much for him. The action lasted less than a couple of minutes. After the match Nash kept on powerbombing Mysterio and then Konnan came out and attack Mysterio more. I don't know why it was chosen for this DVD but I didn't mind watching it.La Parka vs. 'Macho Man' Randy Savage - This wasn't a very good match, it was short and for the most part, uneventful. However it wasn't here for match quality. It was all about one specific moment that I won't spoil here because it's far better if you don't see it coming. It was a memorable moment and I'm glad they included it.Bill Goldberg vs. Hugh Morrus - This match was Goldberg's televised debut. It was a squash match, the kind of match Goldberg would go on to be known for. Goldberg does do a backwards somersault in this one which wasn't something I normally expect from him. It was an impactful debut match that showed off what Goldberg was all about. Not a great match but one worth including.Booker T vs. Jeff Jarrett - This was a decent match. Jarrett controlled most of the action but Booker managed to keep it competitive and stay in the match. The finish was ok, it gave us a decisive result but it did involve interference. It was part of a story-line that hadn't been referenced on the DVD so it felt like it came out of nowhere and it negatively affected the match as it felt unnecessary. Maybe it made sense at the time but on this DVD it's an unsatisfying finish.Public Enemy vs. The Steiner Brothers - This was a Street Fight for the WCW World Tag Team Championships. It was a fun, chaotic brawl. It wasn't anything technically special but it's chaotic action made it feel like a nice change of pace for the DVD. They used some weapons and barely made it into the ring. It had a decent finish and some cool moments. The action was given to us in split screen so you could see all the action but the screens were small which did make it hard to see at times. It was still a lot of fun though, an enjoyable fight. This is followed by the nWo singing 'Oh Canada' to reference the Montreal screwjob.Booker T vs. 'Macho Man' Randy Savage - This was a pretty good back and forth match. Booker T controlled most of the action in the ring while Savage managed to take control on the outside, using a chair and his environment as a weapon. The finish was alright, it gave us a decisive result which was good. It felt a little underwhelming too though and featured a ref bump which didn't feel necessary. It was an entertaining match overall though. It was just missing something to take it to the next level.Rey Mysterio, Juventud Guerrera and Hector Garza vs. La Parka, Psicosis and Silver King - This was a Lucha Libre style of match which meant tags weren't necessary, giving the match a faster pace and a unique feel to the average match. The action was entertaining and it moved at a good pace. There was a spot where everyone seemed to take turns missing a high risk move which could look a bit daft but it kind of helped the feel of the match, emphasising how the attacks are coming from all angles all the time. It had a decisive finish and while I don't think it was a match of particularly high quality it was entertaining.Diamond Dallas Page vs. Chris Jericho - This was a WCW United States Championship match. It wasn't very long and there wasn't much to it. It wasn't set-up like it was a squash, more just a surprisingly quick victory. I enjoyed watching it but I can't help but feel like a proper length match between these two could have been pretty good. As it was it was nothing special but they made it entertaining.Hollywood Hogan, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash vs. The Giant, Sting and 'Macho Man' Randy Savage - There's a highlight package of WCW Nitro's spring break episodes with the ring surrounded by a pool before this match. Unlike the celebrities and cruiserweight packages it's not really relevant to the match that follows. The match was a decent one. A lot of it is centred around The Giant's neck injury and the nWo isolating him. That part of the match wasn't that exciting, The Giant is far to big for it to draw too much sympathy for him. The rest of the match was entertaining though. It was nothing special but it was enjoyable enough WCW main event style action.Sting vs. Diamond Dallas Page - This was a WCW World Heavyweight Championship match. It was a very good back and forth match between two fan favourites. They felt very evenly matched throughout the fight with plenty of reversals and competitive action. They had a good amount of time and kept a good pace. The finish came suddenly but only in a way that made it clear how evenly matched they were. It was a good finish to a very good match. Just like their match on the first volume they gave us one of the highlights of the DVD. It wasn't as good as the one on the last volume but was still a really good, entertaining and competitive fight.Raven vs. Goldberg - This match was held under "Raven's Rules" which is basically a No Disqualification match and it was for the United States Championship. I really enjoyed this one. I was worried going in to it that this would be another one of Goldberg's squash matches. Thankfully "Raven's Rules" gave Raven an opportunity to even things out and dish out some damage to Goldberg. It was still a pretty short match and wasn't far off being a squash but the action was fun and more enjoyable than a lot of Goldberg's early matches. This was followed by a promo by the Wolfpac. It's another moment that didn't feel like it was one of Nitro's best moments but I didn't mind watching it.Kevin Nash and Lex Luger vs. Hollywood Hogan and The Giant - This one is alright but really nothing special. No one in the match was really in a position to make it an exciting match so it was kind of dull. The action was unexciting and it built to a disqualification finish which made it just feel pointless. I don't know why it was chosen for the DVD. The aftermath might have been interesting but we didn't need the full match to get that. This was followed by a very good Chris Jericho segment from his feud with Goldberg.Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero - This match is proceeded by a highlight package of Nitro parties. This was a good match as these two always deliver good matches. It wasn't one of their greatest but even their worst match together is a good one. Eddie controlled most of the action, beating down Mysterio, attacking his knee and tearing at his mask. Mysterio hits just enough offence to show us he's still in the match but Eddie always seemed to be one step ahead of him. There were some good reversals and near-falls as it builds to a good, decisive finish. It did involve some interference but it was brief and didn't harm the match. They had a good amount of time to work with and it's one of the better matches of the DVD.Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Scott Hall - This was a Ladder match for a taser. It was alright. The action wasn't anything special but it was perfectly watchable. There weren't really any creative uses of the ladder but they still made the match work. The finish wasn't great though as it rendered the stipulation pointless. Both men ended up with a taser before Goldberg just attacked them both. It was a poor finish to a decent, but nothing special, match.Bret 'Hitman' Hart vs. 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper - This was for the WCW United States Championship. It's another decent match. It's not on the level of their Wrestlemania match they had together. The match was mostly a brawl. There was a long gap early on as Bret was claiming he'd been hit low. He took advantage and went on to control a lot of the action. There was the usual run-ins and ref bumps that most of Nitro's matches seemed to have before we got a good, decisive finish. It was an enjoyable match but not as good as it could have been.Perry Saturn and Kanyon vs. Diamond Dallas Page and Bam Bam Bigelow - Raven was meant to be in this match instead of Kanyon so for the majority of the action this was a handicap match until Kanyon decided to be a part of it. Saturn did a decent job but the numbers advantage became too much. The action was alright but it was nothing special so I don't quite understand it's inclusion. A strange match but perfectly watchable.'Macho Man' Randy Savage vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan - This was for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Both men were well past their primes here so this wasn't the quality of match they were having in the late 80s. The action was ok, it wasn't boring but it wasn't particularly exciting either. Savage used a steel chair and there was interference. It was apparently a No Disqualification match but they didn't really make that clear. At least it meant that we didn't have another DQ finish. It all broke down towards the end but since it wasn't a disqualification it just added to the chaotic feel of the match so I didn't mind too much. It was an entertaining enough fight.Kevin Nash and Scott Hall vs. Goldberg and Bret ' Hitman' Hart - Before this starts there's a highlight package on the 'Nitro girls'. The match was for the WCW World Tag Team Championships. Bret was injured here though so Goldberg was fighting on his own. Goldberg did well early on but the numbers soon got too much. Bret did eventually make it down to the ring and the match was over soon after. The finish felt bit underwhelming but at the same time I didn't mind it too much. The action was nothing special but it wasn't boring either.Sting vs. Vampiro - This was a House of Pain match which took place in a cage with a roof. There's no referee and there's handcuffs all around the cage to lock each other to the cage walls. the match would be over when someone was tied to the cage walls. It was a decent match, the action wasn't anything special but I enjoy matches like this on this DVD. Short matches with an interesting style or stipulation that add some variety to the feature. It was an entertaining fight and a good change of pace.Shane Helms vs. Shannon Moore - This was another short match that felt different from anything we've had for a little while in this set. It was a cruiserweight style of match. It had a fast pace and entertaining action. It was over in less than five minutes but it was entertaining while it lasted. The action wasn't super exciting but it was enjoyable and had a good, decisive finish.Booker T vs. Scott Steiner - This was from the final episode of Nitro and it was for the WCW United States and WCW World Heavyweight Championships. It was another fairly short match as it was just five minutes long. The action was entertaining and they went back and forth. There were some good reversals and it all led to a strong, decisive finish. It was a good choice to finish off the DVD.Rey Mysterio and Lord Steven Regal vs. Eddie Guerrero and Dean Malenko - This is the first of two bonus matches included on the third disc. It was a good little tag match. It was a bit short which was a shame but the action was good while it lasted. Neither of the teams were really getting along which would play into the way the match went. The finish was strong and decisive, I just wish they could have had a few more minutes to work with.Sting vs. Bret 'Hitman' Hart - This is the second and final bonus feature and it is a match for the WCW United States Championship. The match never really got started though. They fought backstage using their environment along with a bunch of weapons. It was an entertaining brawl that felt different to anything else on the DVD. There wasn't really a finish, it was just a five minute or so brawl that went on until it got stopped. I enjoyed it's inclusion. This was another good compilation of Nitro matches and moments. The more famous matches were included on the first one so this time they just gave us some good quality matches. The quality of the matches is at least on the same level as the first volume, some of them aren't anything special but when put together in a compilation they still make an enjoyable set with lots of variety. Some of the moments on this volume didn't feel like big moments as they were just promos or moments that felt random. The moments don't hold up as well as they did on the first volume but there are fewer of them so it doesn't affect the DVD too much. It was an entertaining release worth picking up for any fan of WCW Monday Nitro.
