All thirteen episodes of the classic children's serial in a four-volume box set. In episode one he starts his search for sustenance on the island, while in the second episode he builds a tree shelter. In the third episode the wreckage of his ship washes ashore so he sets about salvaging anything that he might be able to use. While he searches he makes a new friend - Dick the dog. In episode four, the shipwrecked Crusoe discovers valuable items and treasure aboard the wreck of the Esmerelda, and finds a cave which he turns into a new home. In the next episode he attempts, somewhat unsuccessfully, to make some furniture for his new abode, and in the sixth episode his shelter burns down. In episode seven, Robinson attempts to construct a canoe to escape from the island. episode eight sees him developing his pottery, breadmaking and basket weaving skills, while in episode nine he holds a banquet to celebrate the third anniversary of his arrival. Finally, in episode ten Robinson has to defend his island paradise against cannibals, rescuing one of their prisoners and naming him 'Friday'. In episode eleven, Robinson attempts to make Friday into his manservant, with little success. Episode twelve sees Friday return after Robinson's thoughtlessness drove him away, and in episode thirteen Robinson and Friday make their escape from the island. Also included is the French language version of episode one.

Highly recommended
Still good after all these years. I used to rush home from school to watch this 50 years ago. Now I know why. A very good rendition of a classic story. There is very little dialogue in each episode. CJust good physical acting and excellent black-and-white cinematography, giving it a stark, not glamorous, look that is appropriate for the story. Good for both younger and older audiences. The English narration is superb. The music plays a key role and is by Robert Mellin, Who collaborated on the first spaghetti western , “A Fistful of Dollars,” with the then unknown Ennio Morricone- who would become a superstar composer of soundtracks. There is a brief but interesting interview with the French star of the show, who gives some fascinating insights to the making of the series. Many of these old TV shows do not stand the test of time. But both the quality of the print and the show it’self are timeless. I’ll be watching it again. A simple story that has some good messages about human nature. and values. It was also based on some factual accounts of sailors who were actually shipwrecked For up to four years.

Robinson Crusoe UPDATED!
Timeless classic! The only drawback is the dubbing from French into English. If you can get by that in the first few minutes the rest of the film is great! I found it entertaining and thought provoking, as I often wondered how I would fare if dumped in similar situation. Good for an evening, but a bit long (over three hrs).

Good escapism
The main actor is a bit goofy sometimes and the English dubbing is ok I guess, but the men who play the natives look like what people would like natives of the south seas to look like: brown, athletic and handsome. Actually the best acting is done by the guy who plays Friday and he looks the part. Good entertainment and makes one want to escape to the islands - without the cannibals of course. I have lived in and sailed through the islands and it makes me a bit homesick.

Absolutly horrible!!
This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. My wife and I had to laugh at times over the poor quality of not only the English dubbing, but the dialog itself. the pierce Brosnon version is pretty bad, but this makes it seem like citizen kane in comparison. I went by the reviews.....boy, what were you thinking? If you want a descent Crusoe movie, I recommend Crusoe, with Aiden Quinn. It is not true to the book, and didn't win any awards, but it the best of the three mentioned in my review. as for this one, we didn't finish it and threw it out. hope this saves someone from buying it and being disapointed.

Best seen on "Friday"
I wasn't sure what to expect but the film ended up being fun to watch. Some quite humorous situations which kept it from being boring (it's a LONG one!).
