Great for Embossing Detail or Your Own Designs or Fixing Scratches or Mistakes
These pens are great for embossing detailed images, drawing & embossing your own designs or handwriting, and fixing any knicks or scratches in a larger embossed piece (craft tweezers anyone?).I purchased these pens when I first started dabbling in papercrafts about 8-9 months ago. Back then, I didn't realize that I needed an anti-static powder tool of some kind, so all of my attempts using these were a mess. A few days ago, I was clearing out some of my craft storage boxes and thought about tossing these pens, but they were still brand new & were not dry at all. I had a few panels of boring experiments that were sitting around, so I thought I've give these pens another shot & see if I can jazz up some of those panels. This time, I loved results. I'm attaching a picture of the first piece that I tried the pen on. It's a watercolored & dry-embossed henna design that was dull dull dull. After using the clear version of this pen to highlight a portion of the raised design & adding a bit of embossing powder to it, the piece was interesting enough to mount on a card - at least I thought it was! :)I did notice that the ink in these pens dry a little more quickly than the ink pad seems to - possibly because the ink that you are laying down with the pen is a much thinner & finer layer. You'll have to stop and heat emboss in sections and powder again before you do another section, if you are doing more than a few words of text. The image that I included was done in 8-10 sections. I think the results can definitely be worth the effort. I've since gone to town with these pens, embossing all kinds of details (by the way, using this pen on the highlights of your Altenew flowers instead of using an embossing inkpad results in a crisper clearer image), and the pens have still not run dry, so they seem to last quite a while.I've tried this technique using a glue pen in the past (e.g., Quickie Glue Roller Pen, Zig Squeeze & Roll, etc.), and they all work pretty well if I'm just wanting to do a small dot or a doodle or something; however, they were all a bit inconsistent and skipped or blobbed if I tried to draw a consistent line or wanted a consistent thickness. Since this embossing pen is a marker, I get a smoother and more consistent finish. Also, it is much easier to fix mistakes or tweezer marks on a large embossed image with this pen than with an embossing ink pad.

These work great
I have purchased embossing pens in the past and they were always a disappointment. Either they were too dry or just didn’t work well. I was pleasantly surprised with how well these pens worked. I can write with them or just use them for smaller areas and I always have good results. The black comes in handy, too.

but these embossing pens worked and they were nice! They did stain a little into each other ...
I've only used the Ranger brand so I can't speak for any other brand, but these embossing pens worked and they were nice! They did stain a little into each other (i.e. if I used clear on top of the black for some reason), which was a little annoying to me but understandable since it is ink. It got a little dry after a couple of uses, but was fine after I stopped using it for a while. These are great, affordable pens that I would recommend to anyone thinking about trying heat embossing!

Great quality!
I have nothing to compare this to because it is my first time doing foil embossing but wow! This seems like a great pen for any beginner, but as high quality as it is, great for very experienced people as well. The black pen is definitely not good to use with a light colored embossing powder, so I was so happy I had the two pack that included the clear as well. I have done the “Mrs” on about 20 invitations so far and the pen doesn’t seem anywhere close to drying out which it great! Such a great price for how long it goes on my opinion. Really takes a project (like an invite) to the next level!

Great for paper and other materials
Initially did not like it as one of the pens were broke. I ended up returning it but manufacturer was nice enough to let me keep it and gave me a new set. Loving the quality so far. Tips are nice and fine for the detailed embossing you may need these for. They stay moist for a good amount of time and not dry out right away before you can even put the embossing powder on. I used them both on tiles and paper and they worked wonderfully. Definitely would get them again. Mostly the black, not so much the white.

Disappointed - Smooth writing but dries so fast it doesn't hold powder properly
The media could not be loaded. I have to say I was disappointed in these after all the fantastic reviews. The black pen doesn't stay dry as some other reviews have said. I wanted to emboss my lettering and it requires 2 or 3 heavy heavy coats of this ink to get it wet enough for a non-patchy result. In all of my tries (on different papers and surfaces) the ink bled on the edges, dried quickly, and failed to hold all the embossing powder. What I ended up with was a patchy design with black ink showing everywhere the powder didn't take. I found the clear pen worked about the same, minus the black showing through. However, the clear pen requires a few coats too and it was so difficult for me to see my original marks to go over them again that the end result was unusable. I used them for the first time today and found that the black pen started to run out of ink extremely quickly. I will keep trying them in the meantime but I think some adjustments to the formula or some special paper may be required.

So much better than the other brand I tried
I am a newbie with embossing but I bought a versamark pen before I received these. The other pen was doing a terrible job at letting the powders stick. Immediately out of the package, these were great, the powder stuck and the lines were crisp.

Excelente
