Ready for my third time through!!

This is a very helpful book for those who are just starting to read and understand the Bible

It’s hard to disagree with God or not believe in him until you know what he has said. Reading through the Bible in an honest way is so helpful. But it can be daunting to read cover to cover, though it is of utmost importance. DA Carson’s book is so helpful in understanding more of what you read. Sometimes the Bible is confusing and this book really does help me see things that I would have missed in just a quick read. I encourage you to read the Bible in this reading plan but do it over 2 years instead of 1, that’s how we roll. Helpful. Hopeful. Encouraging.

I alternate between volume 1 and 2 every year. Carson helps you think through the passages. Please know it doesn’t always follow the Crossway Bible. I have the hard copy as well. Having it on my tablet makes it easier.

If you have ever been around someone whom you can tell has FAR more to say about something than they have time, not just to impress with knowledge, but because of passion for the subject, then you know how I find Carson’s devotional to be. If you are a consistent reader of the Bible, I highly recommend this volume to you as way of interacting with a great man’s insights into the Word that might otherwise be missed. Additionally, you may, as I have, feel super cool on those days when you read his insight and excitedly say, “I saw that also!” Ah, to think like D. A. Carson, now that is a dream worth pursuing!

A daily devotional reading written by D.A.Carson, a NT scholar and Biblical theology scholar, certainly have a unique deep insight. In order to build up a spiritual life, a Christian should spend more time on Bible studying, while precise understanding of the Scriptures can help us to hit the target. D.A. Carson’s sharp view point can always help us correctly discover the divine wisdom of the God. Before reading his each day’s devotional writing, I suggest one should carefully read the chapters assigned by Carson, so that we can follow his train of thought. After reading each day’s message, many times I can compose an unexpected outline of my own sermon.I also like the Bible reading chart which including the "family reading" and "private reading", because as a Christian, we both need individual relation with God, as well as family fellowship, so that we can share our thoughts with our loved ones. And this also can meet the title of Carson's book as "For the Love of God"

This is a great small read each day to go along with the scripture reading. It’s a good pace, theologically sound, and provides some good context to the assigned reading. This is my second read through the two volume set. I highly recommend both.

I've been working my way through For the Love of God, Volume 1 last year and started Volume 2 this year. This is an excellent resource for pulling you into God's word and then reflecting on what you have read. Unlike many devotionals which focus more on the devotion and less on the Bible passage under study, this book encourages you to spend more time reading the Bible, than reading the book! There are two options that one can follow to help you read through the Bible in one (the more aggressive plan) or two years. The two books together (volume 1 and 2) follows the two year approach.

This is one of the best daily devotions you could purchase, when you have this one you do not need another one. Well worth the money I paid for it.

If you're looking for a great, time-tested way to read the Bible in a year then this book is great. Based on the McCheyne reading plan which covers the Old Testament once and the Psalms and the New Testament twice in the year, it also provides a really helpful daily devotional with great insights into the passages you've just read.

This is an excellent companion to the first volume, and is very readable. Carson provides much to stimulate our spiritual sensitivities.
