The Way North: Collected Upper Peninsula New Works (Made in Michigan Writers Series)

Ron Riekki did a great job of capturing the living conditions and way of life in our beautiful upper peninsula of Michigan! I had no idea we had so many authors from the U.P.!!! I found his book to be very funny at times and very sad we do tend to forget about the people that live in the U.P. they struggle just as hard if not harder then the American Indian on the Pine Ridge Rez and I'm sure other reservations too. Great writing hope he writes more about the Upper Peninsular. A recommended book to read.

OK, I have to admit right up front that I'm VERY prejudiced about this book. I'm one of the authors. So I'm not even sure this review is allowed, but I'm not writing about my little short story but about the other stories and poetry in the book. They're amazing. Even if you've never been to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, you will feel like you know it after you've read this book. Buy a copy and settle back for a journey to a land that's ancient, unpredictable and still blessed with wilderness that is not only a part of the place but of the people who live there.
