My daughter and I loved it
I just bought a copy for a friend's daughter. This is a really fun book!

Fun book that can promote executive functioning skills
My 12 y/o daughter received this for Christmas. She and her 10 y/o brother love to act out "spy"-type scenarios - they are now pretending to be forensic scientists using the "case files" in this book as the basis for their work. She also received a microscope and he a special journal with a lock - it is quite the operation they have going. They are normal siblings who bicker - I am always so pleased when they get this excited to play together. I know these moments are fleeting! As for the first case, the 12 y/o figured it out, while the 10 y/o was reviewing his "notes." I think the difficulty level was just about right, as she was super excited she got it. I love my children reading books, but I have a special fondness for the ones that promote interactivity, teamwork and problem solving.

Another great Snicket read
This book has been another amazing book by Lemony Snicket even though it is not his normal type of book. The only reason why I'm giving four and not five stars is because it is split up into 2 short books instead of just being one. I really liked how you could solve the mystery and then see if your theory was right. If you are a fan of Encyclopedic Brown or Lemony Snicket this book is defenantly for you.

So funny and clever.
I read this book over the phone to a friend of mine. While she hadn't read any of Snicket's books before, there wasn't really anything I needed to explain. The short mysteries are consistently amusing, much hearty laughter was shared.Overall, as a Snicket fan I adored this entry and from my experience it seems to function well as a stand alone read, also.

I love Lemony Snicket
I love Lemony Snicket, and I have loved All the Wrong Questions. This one's a bit of a tangent, but related to that series, and was a fun read. It isn't Hecules Poirot, to be sure, but exudes that quirky Snicket-ness.

A Bit of a Let Down for a Snicket Fan
I'm a huge Lemony Snicket fan. A Series of Unfortunate Events was basically my Harry Potter. I reread it still every couple of years. I'm also very happily and excitedly reading (and loving) All The Wrong Questions. So I was really excited when I found out that this book was available to tie me over until Shouldn't You Be In School came out. And, yet, it is still sitting half-read on my bookshelf. It has nothing to do with the actual writing and humor which is classic Lemony Snicket and not dissappointing in the least. However, the stories are too...obvious? I understand that these are children's books and are not meant for a twenty-something, but I've always liked that Lemony Snicket books didn't treat children like children. There are always twists and turns and they manage to keep you guessing. All of these stories (or at least the 6 or 7 that I've managed to read at this point) are predictable. A couple paragraphs in and you know exactly what's going to happen. I LOVE the way that the book is set up. The 13 "suspicious incidents" are told first and then all of the endings can be found at the end. But I would love it even more if I was actually curious about the ending or even unsure about it. But I find myself flipping to the end and wondering if I even should because I can already tell what it's going to be.I'm sure children will love it, and I am truly glad to have it as a Lemony Snicket fan (and I'm even planning on finishing it at some point). But it just didn't hook me like the rest of his work.

Multiple short stories
Super awesome for the classroom. Read the story, students come up with their own conclusions and you reveal the truth.Perfect for 2-5

Great
Lemony Snicket might the best children's author writing today. He is quick and witty, yet the language and story are simple enough for kids to follow. My kids are 5 and 7, and they love these.

Novedoso
Cumple mis expectativas. Divertido, sigue la línea del resto de publicaciones de Lemony Snicket. Original y novedosa la forma que plantea para leer los relatos y resolverlos
