David Busch’s Sony Alpha a6400/ILCE-6400 Guide to Digital Photography (The David Busch Camera Guide Series)

This book will cover everything related to the Sony Alpha a6400, however, I wish there were MORE image examples. If you are a beginner, it is hard to grasp tech stuff in only black and white text format. Although the information is REALLY helpful, I just wish I had more visual examples. I found myself reading a section and going back to Youtube for a visual explanation so I could piece everything together.I'm giving this book a 5-star because this information is fantastic and will be used as a frequent reference. However, it's hard for a beginner to learn via the majority of text and not visual illustrations that literally spell it out for you (like a kindergartener, I feel I can be with tech sometimes LOL). I would recommend this book as a solid reference but also an online course to coordinate with this information for people who have a tougher time learner (like myself). I hope this helps :)

I just recently switched from a major brand DSLR to a Sony a6400 mirrorless camera. When I purchased the a6400 there were no manuals available except the Sony owner's manual which is 640 pages. When David Busch's book was available I purchased it because I have owned several of his camera books in the past. They all have been very good! However, this is the very best manual that I ever read on a camera. I have found out from reading his book that this is by far the most advanced, best camera I have ever owned. And I have owned some really nice DSLR cameras. He not only tells you how it works but he tells you which settings work best for my application. I would be extremely lost without his wonderful book! Thank you David for writing this book. It has been such a great help to me. It has helped me understand how to use it to the fullest extent and the best way to use it for all of my different applications.

Once again, Mr. Busch has knocked it out of the park. This is the only manual you need because, somehow, he thinks of everything you might encounter. His style quite enjoyable (it is a manual after all), and this book is a terrific resource that really goes into depth when needed so that you can learn about ALL of the features of the 6400 as you dig into its myriad menus. Also, I pre-ordered and received the book - a signed copy, which was a nice touch - in advance of the release date - all good, just buy it.

The book was very helpful in understanding all the new features in the camera, and I really appreciated the author giving his recommendations for settings and the reason he chose that setting. Where the book is less helpful is in the area of internet connectivity and video. In those two areas I needed to go to SONY's own Guide book, which is over 600 pages, for additional info.

This book gives a much nicer, in depth explanation of the a6400 and its functions. Besides giving better descriptions than the owners literature the author also gives his preferred settings for each of sub-menu on the camera as well as the reason for the setting. If you want to learn how to get the most out of your Sony camera then this book is for you.

I'm really enjoying this book, Sony doesn't include a owner manual with the camera, everything is online. Camera comes with so many features, its nice to have a guide if your are new to Sony Alpha cameras. Also I received a sign copy from the author that I think was a very nice gesture.

This is my first SLR camera in a long time, and I’ve needed a lot of help to ramp up on fundamentals such as exposure triangle, aperture explained, and the like. Also, the camera is full of features and settings I wouldn’t have a clue how to use them, how to find them, or if they existed at all. The book covers every detail, and can be read cover to cover, or as a reference as needed. If I had to rely on the manufacturer’s manual, I would be lost. As it is I have become very comfortable with the camera because of this book. Highly recommended.

I’m just getting into the book. It is highly detailed on all things Sony alpha 6400. I had the book from the same author with my a6000 and found it useful.

I only really bought this book as penny pinching Sony do not include a printed user manual with the A6400. In fact you can't even download a user manual, you have to read their online web based user guide, which I hate doing.I am new to Sony camera equipment after using Canon equipment for over 10 years, so wanted to make sure I was up to speed with the Sony menu system and make sure I wasn't missing any features hidden in the supposedly notoriously difficult to navigate Sony menu system.Firstly the Sony menu system really isn't that bad on this current model camera at least. Would I have missed or found it difficult to find or understand certain functions on my A6400 without this book? Yes there are a couple of features I probably would have missed or not understood immediately without this book. 95%+ of the menu system though is similar to the Canon menu system though and probably other manufacturers, hence my review headline of 'Somewhat useful'.My only gripe with the book itself as such is that about half of it covers the camera's menu system and the other half is a general guide on how to use a DSLR type camera, so if you are already experienced at using a DSLR type camera, then half the book is not going to be of much use to you.Would I have bought this book if Sony had included a paper user manual with the camera, no. But they don't so...

Really liked this book. Explained in great detail the different operations of the camera. Explained what each settings does and what it means if you take a different choice.Great Handbook for the Sony A6400. I would recommend it. I wouldn't say it was for the absolute beginner but for those who want to understand how the camera works and those that miss having a proper user handbook.

I had the one for the Canon 60D, now that I have a Sony A6400 thought I will buy the book for this camera too. There are a lot of YouTube videos on how to use the Sony A6400, but I think a book like this comes in very handy.
