Carolan's Journey is a wonderful collection of 20 of Carolan's harp tunes, played on a celtic harp. Carolan lived between 1670-1738 and spent his life touring around Ireland, writing and playing tunes in return for food and lodging. His surviving music was noted down by others as simple melodies, leaving each musician to reinterpret and colour in the musical outlines. Some of these pieces were written for his hosts, while others commemorate folk tales or important contemporary events. This CD ends with Carolan's Farewell to Music, his last composition, which he played at the home of one of his greatest patrons. He lived and died in service of his unique art. Total recording duration is 50 minutes. A true delight!

O'Carolan With Clarity
Wonderfully played as I am sure most of the other versions of Carolan's music is but what sets this apart is the clean recording. It has none of the prevailing reverb/mushiness that many other recordings suffer from.

Carolan's Journey by Mark Harmer
Carolan's Journey - Volume 1: Irish harp music by Carolan on Celtic harp I was thrilled to receive this cd today having previously discovered Mark Harmer's performances of Turlough Carolan's work on his youtube channel ([ ... ]). The pieces are exquisitely performed by Mark and take the listener on a wonderful journey into Carolan's world. Helpful notes inside the cd cover also give historical details about Carolan and his life. I would highly recommend this cd as an introduction to both the Celtic harp, in this case the Ravenna harp, and the musical legacy of Turlough Carolan. A thoroughly delightful listening experience!
