I bought these to replace a woven set. We use them first and foremost to keep our dining areas clean. They work very well for that. I like the heat resistance, although that's not a big deal for us. It won't replace a pot holder or hot plate, but it does protect surfaces. The front is easy to clean with a sponge (or even sometimes just a wipe with a damn paper towel), but the back is textured (to prevent slipping) and is a little harder to clean. These get daily use and show no damage after 6 months. We tried standard cloth place mats (hard to clean) and woven sets (not spill proof) and this set is by far the cheapest and work the best. I wouldn't use them for a dinner party, but great for daily meals.

We have 3 young kids that constantly spill. We wanted something to protect the table but not look too childish. They wipe easily and look great. No complaints

As pictured. I'm not sure if they are stain resistant because I haven't experienced one yet, but they clean up nicely so far.

These place mats do the job. They protect my table when the plates are hot......however, if you want something pretty, these are not it. I ordered gray and the color does not look like the pic on the Amazon site. They look very cheesy and kind of cheap.

For as thin and lightweight as these are, they protect your table quite well. We've put hot plates, bowls, drinks you name it and no marks have been left on the table. My one and only gripe is they slide around a little too much due to the smooth bottom. They can be washed and dried but ONLY by hand. We just use a sponge with warm, soapy water. Overall I'm pleased with these placemats.
