Hilarious
I read this book when I was in the fourth grade so I purchased it for my fourth grader to read. Of course, I had to read it first. It's just as funny at 40 years old as it was when I was 10 years old!

Not for zucchini lovers.
Even though I love zucchini and this author rather disparages it I found it to otherwise be unobjectionable.

One of my favorite books!
I read this book in middle school and ordered it now (15 years later) because I want to make sure my kids get to read it (in 15 years) and because I still enjoy it.

It is a great book for girls who like sports. Most sports books feature boys.

Outrage! Absurdity! Outrageously absurd hilarity!!
Another great Gordon Korman masterpiece, The Zucchini Warriors assembles our loveable caricatures and introduces a few more. Korman's scenarios can sometimes be trite and obvious, his characters one dimensional, but the situations are outrageous, and the dialogue crackles like that of the best Simpsons episodes. Great stuff! In this tale, MacDonald Hall gets a football team and a new coach, and they go from worst team to best through some hard work, great coaching, and plenty of other hijinks. The developments are often hilarious, and the grand finale is stupendous! Not many complaints - sure the book is a bit too focused on football (didn't anything else happen over those nine weeks?), the scenario about the school inspector Kevin Klapper a bit too absurd, and the make-over of Elmer Dimsdale just a bit too absurd, but hey - it's a Bruno And Boots book!!

Can't Recommend Enough - Such a Sweet and Funny Series
Was on a long solo hike today, and for some reason my mind drifted to Gordon Korman and his wonderful books for teens. I read them voraciously as a kid - by the time I discovered them at my local used bookstore in the mid-90s many were already out of print. My dad was a hero and tracked many of them down on Amazon, back in its very early days! I still have a stack of his paperbacks in a box, ready to share with my kids one day. Although, thinking about them makes me want to reread them all myself! They are all great, but the Bruno and Boots series captured my imagination like no other. The characters and stories were all so sweet and hilarious.

One of my favorites from back in the day. . .
This is a funny, funny book. Elmer Drimsdale as the B.M.C. still gives me fits of giggles if I let it. The Beast is sure to cause outright laughter, especially his timely return to action after his "compound fracture". All I am thinking about right now is the final play and Korman's line "The Beast hit him like Polaris missle" lol Oh man. . . *wipes tears from eyes* Oh man, I just remembered Sidney Rampulskey and his touch down slide. . . I still to this day use the line "Yeah, he could trip over a moonbeam." :) Or "I've never seen someone trip over the 50 yard line before." Anyways, if you ever read any Bruno & Boots books, this is definately my favorite, thought "The War With Mr. Wizzle" is close second, perhaps even equal. I think I am prejudiced because I played football in school. Parents, these are wonderful stores for children, if you don't know about Bruno & Boots get "This Can't Be Happening at Macdonald Hall" it's short and to the point. :) It might even get the kids reading, it did for me. This was read to my class, I forget which grade, but I have never forgotten the story. :)
