You can store propolis at room temperature, but if you want to work with a small amount, you can chill or freeze it in a plastic bag, and then you can shatter it into smaller pieces on the counter or with a large spoon. If you want to powderize it, just freeze it for a few hours, then drop it in a coffee grinder. It can be kind of messy, but you can clean it up with isopropyl or grain alcohol.
