Fantastic bit of kit. A bargain even if it was £100.
FANTASTIC bit of kit (no I don’t work for the company). I bought it so I could view ViewRanger (OS mapping) on my iPhone displayed in my Land Rover Defender’s Kenwood 7” touchscreen with incompatible Apple CarPlay but realise I can use it on my home TV to replace Apple TV (£100?) and mirror anything on my iPhone or iPad to the TV without the problem that ATV sometimes has. For instance Greyzone on recently; the first episode was on C4 but you had to watch the following episodes through the All 4 App, in my case on the iPad which was a pain as Apple TV was not compatible (it explained on screen) but now, with this little gadget I can mirror anything. Apple will not like this brilliant gadgets existence.One important point, as well as the HDMI cable it must be powered by the charger cable to work.

HDMI requires power
I was on the point of returning this item, as it would not work. I had followed all the directions in the leaflet, and consulted Apple technical notes online but could not get any sort of picture at all.Luckily, I found a note in an online forum that said you had to provide power to the unit for the HDMI to work. As soon as I plugged the lightning cable into the unit as well as the HDMI it’s brand-new to live and has worked perfectly ever since. I would’ve given it five stars if this note had been included.

Fire hazard
Without connecting a power supply it didn’t work at all, with a power supply connected it gets too hot to touch. The Apple version works perfectly without extra power, and if a power supply is connected (to charge the iPhone/iPad whilst connected) the device stays cool. The Apple version is expensive but it works. This cheap junk is a fire hazard. Returned and refunded.

'L8-1 Lightning HD adapter': DOES NOT WORK.
I bought this product in order to connect an iPad mini to an HDMI cable running to our SONY Bravia TV, in order to see the iPad screen enlarged on the television's HDMI input setting. Unfortunately, while everything seemed to connect up in terms of plugs to ports, neither the iPad nor the television registered a connection (even after allowing for a 15 second delay, as suggested by the instruction sheet). So the product does not work. Also, the packaging contains spelling mistakes and awkward phraseology, suggesting poor translation work into English on the part of the company. Highly disappointing.

looks fine & worked for the first time faultlessly, BUT has not worked since I assume the item over heated and cooked itself, very disappointing & not worth the postage to return

You need to keep power lead pass through in. But worked perfect
I wanted to save on apples own one, you do have to keep the power lead plugged in for it to work which is sad, but does the job great

Worked once, now duff
This item worked once. When I have now gone back to use it, although it is a few months later I am unable to get it to work as before. I should have paid more money and got a better one. Not very happy!
