Have some coffee before trying to assemble! No istructions, just a diagram.
The instructions are nearly useless, just 4 drawings with no text, I found the online photos more helpful. I'm good at figuring such things out but I fear people not as handy will have trouble so that is the why I give this less than 5 stars. You do need a Phillips head screwdriver to put it together. Also, there were two mysterious small blocks of wood (each with a dowel peg and two screw-holes) included with the easel but they are not shown in any diagrams - they form the hinge for the back leg. The dowels go into the sides of the back leg at the top. The blocks have pre-drilled holes in them that do not correspond to anything on the structure, they must be screwed to the smaller cross bar of the easel so that the indentation in the back leg sits over the little brass threaded thing in the middle of that crossbar. You have to put the little blocks on the correct side of the leg or it will not line up correctly - be sure you have it right before drilling small holes & screwing them on! Then the leg can pivot on the dowels. It seems to be a sturdy little easel for the money, just the right height to paint while seated. I'm going to varnish mine-

Nice for the cost but assembly directions are not clear
It was a little difficult to put together with directions available. It would have been very easy with proper directions. It is a nice easel for the money however when I screwed in the last two screws on the leg the wood split.

It's great for the price!
As with another reviewer said; this thing is tricky to assemble. Overall, it's lightweight, and a simple product. It's very good for its price range. Don't expect anything too extravagant, it'll do what you need it to.

Flimsy hardware.
I had to go buy new hinges and other hardware to make it work. NOW it works and looks good. One easel had the wrong hardware included.
