Works ok but the instructions are bad.
The instructions that come with the device are clearly for a different software version, thus it's nothing like what you see on the screen. Useless!The USB power cord is rather short. Considering this is a device for TV without smart functions and therefore low power USB ports you need the cable to reach to an outlet, don't count on it. It's about 18 inches long.You don't need to press the button to change the mode, thankfully, because the button is on the front of the device which is to close to the TV... Bad placement! But you no longer need it.Just enable WiFi on your Android then enable cast/screen mirroring, which will be slightly different for each device.Tested with 3 devices:1. Essential Phone w/ Android 8.1 & 9.02. Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 w/ Android 7.13. Moto X Pure w/ Android 7.0The Essential Phone didn't stream video very well, voice is out of sync. Tried several apps and settings but nothing changed audio sync. The video was also very pixelated.The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 did great. The default Samsung video play "casts" video well — screen must stay on but only plays video to dongle and controls on tablet. Other apps also worked well, VLC & MX Player. Video quality was decent but not as good as the TV's video player or using the Essential Phone's HDMI out. Update: video quality is best streaming HEVC (X265) videos, regardless of resolution. Overall video quality is generally good from the tablet.Both x264 & x265 (HEVC) streamed great off the tablet, and screen mirroring worked good though there is certainly a lot of latency.The Moto X Pure was only tested briefly but it mirrored the screen and video fine. Therefore the Essential Phone seems to have its own issues, maybe due to Android 8.1/9.0?For watching video or using your TV as a general monitor I think this device is fine. I wouldn't recommend it for something that you need very low latency.Good device for simple mirroring.

Does not play Netflix or HBO Now content
Protected content will not play from iPhoneX. Does not work with Netflix or HBO Now. You can only show content that is not protected on your TV (e.g. photos or video you take). This is worthless for movies or TV content from subscription content providers.
