MacConkey agar is a selective and differential culture medium designed to selectively isolate and differentiate based on lactose fermentation. Our MacConkey Agar contains crystal violet and bile salts. This media inhibits the growth of mold. Professionally poured and packaged.

Don’t bother buying.
Useless. Package arrived full of moisture and mold inside. Moreover, the concentration of McConkey is poor at best. McConkey is a very bright red in even the cheapest brands.

The plates that arrived intact were OK; some gram negatives grew, and good pink coloration was observed on a known lactose fermenting strain of E. Coli.Packaging was relatively poor; several arrived cracked, and there was an enormous amount of moisture, and even running liquid in the package. I don’t know how much of this was due to the original product, or how much is attributable to Amazon’a handling.

Usable cheap culture plates
Plates worked as expected was able to culture a few gram negatives. Only issue some plates had thin agar

Some plates arrived in OK condition, some not
Only about 5/10 plates usable; one was straight up broken, others had growth due to moisture within the packaging.
