Believe me, your cultures will grow in this stuff, so much that we had to keep ours in airtight containers because we were afraid of how much the scary stuff grew. We did mouth bacteria, urine, dock scum, lake water, and I can't remember what else, there was one or two more. Let me just say that these particular petri dishes are very fertile ground for growing bacteria and fungi for experiments. After Day 1, we sealed all of them shut with masking tape, because ours took off that fast, but the smells still came through, so you might want to seal with non-permeable tape. YES, these work. You might be concerned to walk barefoot on a dock after this.

Everything is delivered fast and sterile. Growth of fungi is good. The only thing which I do not like is the label 'Sabouraud Dextrose' right on the center of every plate. I need these media in order to make photos of grown fungal colonies and this label creates for me a problem.

The basic approach with these (for mold detection) is to place a few outside and a few in various rooms in the house. Then, collect after some time, seal, label, and wait. In my case, the outdoors ones had far more mold than the indoors ones, some of which barely had any and others a little (e.g. the one in the kitchen); which I guess is good?

First I want to say the seller was great to work with but we had to replace these numerous times due to growth on the plates. Accuracy for the lab we were selling was key and having plates with growth already was not an option. It slowed down our research. Will not purchase Agar plates from Amazon again since the plates are probably not being quality controlled.

One of the pre poured dishes came with some type of growth in it.

I never opened it, but it still contaminated (in the refrigerator).

They are vacuum packed and I had 1 plate arrived cracked but still worked fine. These plates work very well. as long as you give the proper time to grow. I went with 24, 48, 72 and 96 hour monitoring and had good results
