A MUST for Mental Health students and professionals
A professor of mine recomended me the firts one and I was so fascinated with it I decided to get this one as well. I highly recommend these books if you are contemplating on studying anything related with the mind (neuroscience, neuropsychology, mental health counseling). These books are also great if you work with children or teenagers (child life specialist) or you are looking into studying developmental psychology. As a matter of fact, even if you are a doctor, you should get these books, why?? Because not many profesionals in the medical field understand what TRAUMA does to the brain and how it affects the body (inmune system) and how many patients they diagnosed with diseases and mental disorders are in fact, symptoms related to traumatic experiences that can be traced all the way back to the developmental years.

It is a hard task to improve on groundbreaking work. Rothschild has done it in this edition. Integrating a decade of neuroaffective research and clinical experience, Rothschild has moved the approach to trauma treatment another step forward. By integrating current nervous system research into a clinically useful framework Rothschild has successfully built a new advance on her already solid foundational work. Rothschild reminds us that safety and stability are not to be given lip service and must be well established before trying to resolve traumatic memories. As with all of her books, this is well written and an easy read as Rothschild has mastered the capacity to take complex technical issues and explain them in simple understandable language without loosing the importance. Her innovative chart describing details of autonomic nervous system (ANS) arousal and what to do in each of the six ANS states. I wholly recommend this for both trauma survivors and professionals alike.

Extraordinary book for multidisciplinary study
Babette Rothschild brings wisdom and deep expertise, intuition blended expertly with available "evidence", for trauma treatment protocols in this cutting edge book. Babette is an original thinker, and very clear and lucid representative for being the authority of your own experience and being able to empower one's clients to be partners in healing. As a holistic health and acupuncture researcher, and a researcher in biofield science, I know her attitude is very instructive and even necessary in all fields of science and medicine, and this book is highly valuable to cross disciplinary applications beyond strictly trauma therapy. Great work Babette, and keep these coming, and thank you for your innovative and rigorous blend of research and personal insight creation for practical applications in a difficult arena of medicine and science.

Deep knowledge of an experienced therapist and teacher
I’ve read all of the books written by Babette and am doing her Somatic Trauma Therapy Training. Her work has been a great help in my work as an organizational coach and facilitator of companies stuck in organizational trauma after an overwhelming event and/or chronic, toxic conditions. My writing on Organizational Trauma - soon available - has been highly influenced by the work of Babette.

Like Babette's first book
Like Babette's first book, this one delivers! I have been a psychotherapist (MSW) for over 31 years, trained in many approaches including Bodynamics and Somatic Experiencing. This book urged me to look at my roots as a therapist; what I know, want to learn, and want to put into practice. Babette's common sense focus reminded me, we often get caught up in our trainings, and overlook the very basics of good trauma work. Her ANS: Precision Regulation fold out is very useful. Thank you Babette!

Excellent, wise, humbling
As a student counsellor and in recovery from PTSD I find much wisdom in this book. I recognise much of the way my own therapist tuned into me and was able to help me calm and find my own resources. Teaching a client to slow down, become grounded and not get hijacked back in to the trauma is something that can be learned and this book is an amazing resource. There is a removeable colour coded chart included in the book on what to observe at different stages of autonomic nervous system activation and tips on managing the situation to support the client. This part of the book is quite a challenging read and will take some time for me to make sense of all the information but I suspect it will be worth sticking with it.

A good addition to the original version
A good addition to the original version. Anyone working with trauma needs to read around both the impact of trauma on the nervous system and how to work with it through Babette's Stage Model.

I love this book!
I've been in the trauma field for 11 years and this book, as well as volume 1, are two of my favourite trauma books I've read. Very comprehensive and written in a way that helps the reader understand a complex topic.
