Tillak Wallowa Trail Hat, a Lightweight Nylon and Mesh 5 Panel Cap

Great hat so far! I have had it for the last couple days an really enjoy it! The wind and breeze blow right through it and it feels very light. I sometimes even forget I am wearing it. I also like that I can roll it and pack it, I ruin most hats by doing that so it's nice to have a flexible hat for travel. The only flaw I have noticed so far is that the back strap has frayed threads that keep needing cut off so I will be taking a lighter to that so I don't have to work about and. Also some of the stitching is coming out, but I suspect this is just a flaw in only my hat and not others. I really do like this hat, but had to take off a star because of those two things.______________________________________________________________________UPDATE: One of the cofounders contacted me within the same day I posted this review and asked me if I would like a new hat. Great customer service, however I declined the free hat since I was able to fix mine and it wasn't that big of an issue.

This hat used to be awesome but the updates they've made to it on new ones makes the top all frumpy because there's too much mesh and it's stiffer, also the latch in the back doesn't stay put as well and will slide to be bigger. The hat doesn't look good or fit well anymore. I'm disappointed because the original one was my favorite hat and I wanted to get another one. Hopefully they go back to the old fit, happy to update review if they fix this problem with the new ones.

I don't know if its the dark color, but I took this on a 50K trail run and although the big brim was great for sun blockage, the hat seemed HOT. I've since ran quite a few shorter runs and taken it hiking and still haven't found it to be significantly cooler. Aesthetically, the cap itself is relatively shallow and looks a little goofy because its not deep enough to fit the top of my head.Things I did like are it is light weight, packs well, and it dries relatively quick without soaking up sweat.I hope moving forward they choose to make it in a lighter color to reflect heat.

A nice hat that lasted through a weeklong hiking adventure in Utah. However, it is definitely made people who aren’t thinking about women’s/smaller head fittings. The front panel is wide, so the brim sticks out off the sides of my forehead on both sides. I tried to adjust the back strap to make it smaller, but it is difficult to adjust and didn’t stay tight. I was constantly adjusting—not what you want to be doing while hiking. Side vents are nice and love that it can can squashed and still hold its shape. I’ll keep using but wouldn’t buy again.

Extremely pleased with Tillaks current hat offerings.I ordered a Tillak Camp Hat 1.5ish years ago and the buckle on the back broke quickly, Tillak immediately shipped me a new Camp Hat at no charge and I've worn it near daily since then. Some seams have needed to be reinforced as they came apart, but the flimsy buckle kept pace until a month ago. I "fixed" this issue by sewing the webbing together to make it a non-adjustable hat. Essentially I was piecing my old hat back together every couple months.A couple weeks ago i decided to check out Tillaks offerings again as they have 5-panel hats that fit me well. Lo-and-behold they have upgraded their buckle and improved their stitching. This was immediately evident as i looked at their pictures, so I snatched up their "Trail Hat" as a replacement (red isn't my color, Tillak if you read this look into some more good earthy colors for the Camp Hat please!). When it arrived I could tell their pictures were spot-on, the buckle is much sturdier, their are reinforcements where my hat started coming apart, and the interior head-band is put together nicer. I am so happy with this purchase that will probably pick up a dark green one later

Just what I was looking for. My hair is on the longer side, when I run it goes wherever it wants (usually in my eyes and other bothersome places). I tried other “active” style hats but they always ended up retaining a disgusting amount of sweat. I purchased this hat after learning about Tillak and their mission to make sustainable outdoor products. You can tell that it was designed by people who actually use it. I’ve used it on almost every run since I bought it and it does exactly what it supposed to all while remaining almost completely dry (the bill is usually somewhat damp but dries very quickly). The mesh sides are perfect for a long day out on the hot trail. Will definitely buy again when it’s time to retire the one I purchased.

This hat is perfect. Look, my head sweats a monsoon and gets super hot when I run. This is the first hat (out of many hats out there) that didn't a) feel like it got drenched in sweat when I was finished running and b) take super long to dry (dried in about 10 minutes in the semi humid spring of NC). Another great thing:very easy to clean. Use a little woolite under water and boom - you're off once it dries. Both these are NOT the case with other hats ([cough] - Nike dry fit running hats).Beyond amazing functionality, I was originally concerned about the style. Real talk: I am not a young buck. The low profile, short brimmed hats - I think, look a little goofy on me, a mid thirty something. But here is the deal, the mesh top makes the whole hat look really clean (not boxy, like other short brimmed hats).Considering buying another soon!

Comfortable, especially in hot weather. I need sun protection for my bald head, so I must wear a hat. Perspiration wicks from the sweat band to the brim and drips from the edge of the brim and not onto my face.Minus one because the adjustable band is too short. On an average size adult, male head, I am at the very end of the band. With a larger head, it would not fit at all.
