I decided to take one for the team here, as this company previously sold an item like this which claimed to be a TRRS to TRS adapter but the wrong item arrived, and it didn't work.I noticed they put up a new listing for the same type of device, so I took a chance and ordered this new product, which seems pretty good. it does what it should do, and seems well constructed. If you have a set of earbuds or other headset that works with your phone, featuring a mic and remote (which most all do these days) you might have noticed that plugging it into a regular old stereo jack doesn't work too well, the sound quality is bad.What this does, is adapts those sorts of headsets so they will produce good sound when plugged into a regular headphone jack like you might find on a boom box, portable cassette player, or other items like computer headphone jacks that don't support a microphone.

This adapter works great for its purpose -- interfacing a TRRS headset with a TRS jack (from e.g. a TV headphone out jack). It's metal and sturdy and has nice tight tolerances. I just want to point out that the same manufacturer offers another TRRS to TRS adapter that looks identical, feels identical, and had an almost identical Amazon listing (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BMAA31C), but is for a MICROPHONE rather than headset. I actually ordered two of the microphone adapters by accident, and they're very ineffective doorstops. Returning them was only an option if I paid shipping (which would be about the same as the item cost). So I then had to order two of these proper HEADSET adapters, which work very well. A suggestion for the manufacturer is to perhaps paint them different colors at least (e.g. red for microphone; black for headset) in case they ever find themselves in the same junk drawer.

You will lose mic functionality by using this adapter, but if you don't need the mic functionality often, this adapter helps you get rid of the splitting Y cables and makes a better connection between your headset to your stereo input.

I have a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort headphones that I like to connect to my stereo. The problem is that the Bose has a smartphone type jack with microphone. When I try to plug it into a regular 3.5 mm stereo socket, I can only hear one channel unless I pull it out a millimeter or two, and then it doesn't always stay put. I've been lo0king for months for an adapter that would allow me to plug my headphones into a socket without jerryrigging. This was the answer! My headphones now go into the socket with a satisfying click, and the sound is perfect. I'm just sorry I didn't find this months ago.
