This was a stocking stuffer for Christmas, we used it twice the same day taking care to run it under tap water each time to shut it off. It cooked eggs perfectly both times. When we went to use it the next day it no longer worked.

I love this product. I never have to worry about being around when the water starts boiling. It plays the right tune at the right time when I want my eggs hard boiled. Great invention!!

Found this replacement for the same item bought in Germany many years ago, which had succummed to old age after years of faithful duty. I was delighted that Amazon could import this item.

My daughter got me this for my birthday. It works great. I keep it in the fridge with my eggs so its the same temp as the egg when I am going to boil them.

The Beep Egg Timer is cute and it works! The bottom line is that it showed me how much time I needed to cook a chilled egg right from the refrigerator into a pot of cold water, brought to a full boil to the soft-to-medium soft doneness that I want. All this in a total elasped time of 10-minutes (perfection) Once you know how much time it takes to get your eggs to preferred perfection, you just time it. (In a sense, you won't need the Beep Egg after you know how much time it takes but let me say, after reading numerous cookbooks, the Beep Egg was the easiest, most accurate method I've found).What is worth the purchase of this device is that it's cute fun and really takes the intial guess work of how long to cook a chilled egg from the refrigerator, to a rolling-boil to the softness or doneness of egg you want.One word of advice for beginners: Once you cook your egg, immediately drain the hot water from the pot, refill with COLD water until water is cool (or drain the HOT water and let your egg sit in cold water for minute or two). This allows the cooked egg white to "separate" from the shell a bit so you can peel the shell off easier.Yes, it plays musical tunes but the volume isn't loud so since it competes with the sound of rolling-boiling water you have to listen carefully. But once you determine the amount of time needed to cook your egg to how you want it, the Beep Egg confirms its cooking time and time again. I can see why the Beep Egg can be good educational teaching tool since it sits quitely with real eggs in your egg compartment of your refrigerator, so if you need to teach someone, you just put your chilled Beep Egg and your chilled uncooked egg together into a pot of tap water and let the Beep Egg do it's magic.I like my Beep Egg.

My husband purchased one in Germany years ago and loved it. When it finally gave out cooking eggs wasn't quite the same. Santa will be bringing him a new one.

Replaced one I bought from KLM airline year's back. Tried one of the cheap visual versions that sit in the water, found it was impossible to time the eggs precisely so useless. This one works just like the KLM one and I'm delighted with it. Cost more than the KLM one, but I couldn't find a cheaper one. At least my eggs are done to my liking again.

I bought this as the previous one that played a German tune just didn't work. This is the orig "killing me softly tune" and works perfectly. best electronic egg timer on the market. I bought one from Lakeland which although half the price, is rubbish. Its based on a visual scale, and trying to see it through steaming water is near impossible.

A gadget that is actually works! I love my eggs soft-boiled, with runny yolk - the beep egg chirrups its cheery tune and the egg is eggsactly as I like it. Hitherto, other gadgets I've tried simply didn't work - I'd have an underdone egg like a very bad cold, or an overdone power-ball egg.Beep Egg is a wee bit on the expensive side, given that the non-replaceable battery only lasts for 18 months, but keeping the Beep Egg in the fridge prolongs battery life. Worth it, if you like boiled eggs - since buying it, I've pressed it into service at least a dozen times, whereas previously, I'd attempt a boiled egg once in a blue moon.

Just throw in the pan with the eggs forget about it and make rest of breakfast perfect eggs overtime. This is was our second that has died, the second one lasted 6 months after being used everyday, which equals 10 pence per use which is a little expensive.
