Beat Furrer s new opera Wüstenbuch is based on several texts, fromancient Egyptian writings to contemporary authors. The Wüste( desert ) provides a base where Furrer can place his drama withouta plot. The music and texts create a rich and complex atmosphere fullof history and poetry. In addition to the opera, this set also includesthree pieces on the second disc, giving an more detailed insight in thecomposer s music.
