Great rod rack
I have been using a 2 rod hard case for a 2 piece fly rod. It took up floor space in my SUV and was limited to only 2 partially assembled 4 piece rods. Now I can have several rods at the ready. I still break them down to 2 pieces. I do insert them into rod sleeves to keep them safe. Overall it’s a well thought out system and doesn’t advertise you as having expensive fly rods like a roof rack does.

For bigger cars
Doesn’t fit a Subaru Crosstrek but is seems very well made and looks nice.

Works great in bed of truck!! Great quality.
Love the way this mounts under my truck bed cover! It stays high enough that I can pack gear under the rods. So easy to mount. I just ran the straps through the clips that hold the bed cover on. Love that my rods are so easily accessible! The quality of the product is great! The straps, clips and mounting bungees are durable, and you can tell that Smith Creek didn’t cut corners in any workmanship. This is a one of a kind original, not some cheap knock-off. Well worth the cost!I was hoping that when I ordered this rack that mounting it in the truck bed would work well. Completely satisfied!

Not functional
I drive a 2015 honda pilot and fish 8'6" and 9' fly rods. This system will not comfortably secure even one rod. The rear strap does not sit back far enough and using the suction cup anchors means the person in the back seat has little to no head room as the straps sit too low in the vehicle. Because the rear strap does not sit back far enough, a fly rod witha reel cannot be secured where the cork and reel sit. The rod rests well in front of the cork handle which means the handle and reel sag significantly behind the strap. Good idea but not functional. I'll keep looking for a better system.

Very nice rack only one problem
Nice quality rack the only problem I had with it was a 2019Toyota 4runner has antennas in the window in the suction cups Would lose suction after a few minutes Other than that made with high quality materials seems to hold a lot of weight

Revised review: good product but please read
I drive a 2008 Toyota 4Runner. I am able to use the hand grips in the rear passenger section of the vehicle to secure the front strap. However, I have to use the suction cups to secure the rear strap to the side windows in the trunk area (edit, several months after purchase: I spent $60 to buy hand grips for the trunk area because the suction cups don't work well in my vehicle, more on this soon). The two major problems with this system in my vehicle is that 1) it is impossible to get the rear strap really tight with the suction cups and 2) the windows are a few inches below the ceiling of vehicle so there's a huge gap between the strap and ceiling (6-8" in the middle of the strap, where it sags). So, if you want a tight, straight strap, the suction cups just aren't strong enough and pop off the window if you pull the strap tight and try to put multiple rods on it. So, no matter what, you'll have a little bit of sag in the rear strap, and if you drive a vehicle with a multi-inch gap between the windows and ceiling in the trunk area, the strap will set far too low in your rig.Initially (the first several months before I got help from Smith Creek), I also had problems with the suction cups staying up *at all*, even with the big sag. I cleaned them, my windows, etc, and they'd fall down within a day or two. I was about to give up on the product but eventually contacted customer service and received remarkably professional and fast responses. My contact, Robert, went way out of his way to help try to determine the sources of the problems and remedy them. He sent me a new set of suction cups, which are absolutely better than the ones I had originally, so I think you'll be ok with the suction cups if they work with your vehicle style.I'm happy with the product now that I have handle grips for the front and back strap. The suction cups provide an option if you don't have the right connections in the back/trunk area, and I'm very grateful for having them as an option, but I think most folks will be disappointed with how low they sit in the back and the sag in the middle. Definitely buy this if you have handle grips for both straps, but think carefully if you think you'll need the suction cups for the rears strap. Thanks again to Robert at Smith Creek for amazing customer service.

Well-designed and useful!
Easy to install, works well in my SUV. Ideal use would be for a vehicle that also functions as a family car.
