Modern East Asia from 1600: A Cultural, Social, and Political History, Vol. 2, 3rd Edition

I am currently using this book for a class on Modern East Asian History. I enjoy reading the book. However the front cover map and the back cover chart found in the hardback is incomplete on the e-version.

Hardly used this book for my class, but it was mandatory. What a waste of money! Wahhhh...

This book is pretty well laid out and has a lot of interesting side notes and stories.

After reading through a few chapters of this for a required class, I could no longer deny my theory that this book was written by a speaker of English as a second language using Microsoft Word's grammar check to make the sentences technically grammatically correct. It is a difficult to read mess with awkward non-standard grammatical structures, and obvious ESL mistakes like "the pilot of a ship" while also trying to seem like a college level book by improperly using a thesaurus to pick the most awkward equivalents that are long out of use in standard English.
