The drill itself feels good in the hand and packs alot more punch than ...
This was quite a carefully considered investment for me. When my old makita gave up the ghost I decided to go lithium and match this to my dewalt circular saw. The pair go together very well and my one 5ah battery shared between both tools lasts a full day of heavy use no trouble. The drill itself feels good in the hand and packs alot more punch than I was expecting. Speed control is excellent and the chuck holds onto bits well even when working in hammer mode making big holes in concrete/brick. The magnet and light I originally thought were a bit gimmicky but in fact I always have my second bit now stuck to the side and find it a really convenient way to reduce faff whilst working. The light is well angled and in fact very useful for working in cupboards etc. All in all a very sound investment and I expect it to last a good few years.

Not as described
I purchased this Dewalt drill as new. But when I tried to register the purchase on Dewalts website .I couldn't, nothing I had on my drill was recognised, because it was a factory reconditioned item not New.

Favourite drill now.
Short body & lighter weight but way more power than model from only a few years back.Lovely build quality, feels tight & solid in the hand.Magnetic block on 1 side of handle base, belt clip on other, both can be unscrewed to switch over or remove.LED is angled up onto chuck tip which it always should have been :)Torque on the slow setting is incredible for a cordless, in fact too much for those without strong wrists.I've used it to mix plaster & it was easy to keep variable trigger on nice low speed.Fast start & a quick, hard snapping brake.Purchased winter 2015 for £63 bare unit. Favourite drill now.

compact & powerful
bought to replace an ageing 14v drill whose ni-cad batteries no longer hold a charge, this drill is slightly smaller, more powerful & has additional features like the hammer action, lamp & brushless motor & seems excellent value

A worthy upgrade
I started down the DeWalt path in the same way that I imagine many home users do - picking up the basic drill with two batteries that seem to be on permanent offer in B&Q. The drill served me well but it would appear the upgrade bug effects DIY tools too and so I was intrigued as to what the higher end tools are like.Gotta say, this is a massive jump up from the basic drills. From the feel of the chuck to the way it chews through bricks it feels every part the upgrade. My original drill has essentially been relegated to screwdriver duty.
