Good clock, but some glaring issues
So first, it’s large and very visible as advertised , that’s not a problem. Works well overall and is fairly easy to use. Now, there are a couple of glaring issues that almost made me return it. One, the speaker is very quiet. It’s a huge clock, but the speaker is barely audible. If the music is up for a workout, you will very genuinely not hear it at all. This is a problem if you are doing any sort of interval work where you need to hear the timer. On the subject of interval work, the interval timer does not work properly. If you are setting work/rest intervals it’s fine. Say 1:00 ON/1:00 OFF, no problem. The issue is if you want an EMOM or something where the ‘rest’ is zero.Try to set the rest to zero and you’ll be in a for a rude surprise when the rest ignores that and defaults to 99:59 for some reason.Could you just go 1:00 on/ 1:00 off? Sure, but then your round indicator wouldn’t be synced up properly. What if I am in a 24:00 EMOM and want to know whether I’m on minute 18 or 19?Now, at this point you might as well forgo the interval entirely because, as stated above the beep is so quiet as to be of negligible value to time management. For those of you who are still interested, I did come up with a workaround and that is to set the rest interval to 1 second. It works fine, you can barely tell. I’d say it would be annoying having it beep at you multiple times but again, you can’t hear it so who cares at this point? This workaround isn’t ideal though. If you are doing the 24:00 EMOM mentioned above, it’s very important to note that your total run time is now actually 24:24. Huge? No, but definitely noteworthy to your overall timeline, and annoying for a machine whose sole purpose is to provide you with accurate timing. So, if you want to use this for a race or something where all you need is visibility and a running clock, go for it.If you want any more complexity, you’ll want to be aware of these issues.
