Nice Package Deal
I needed a lens cap for a 24mm prime lens to replace one that was lost on a night shoot. After reading reviews on this product, I decided that adding a lens hood wouldn't hurt, and it was cheaper than most other lens covers that were sold separately. The lens cover fits very secure and actually performs better than the manufacturers cover. The lens hood added a level of security to the lens from blunt force impacts, and as this is my primary lens, it stays on my camera most of the time. I have not had any lens flares, which is probably a good thing. But to be honest, I didn't have any before I installed the lens hood. The lens hood is a little difficult to tighten down if you have large fingers, as the threaded assembly sits lower than the hood and the lens with very little space to tighten it down.

Quite good and does the job!
I'm always misplacing, losing or breaking lens hoods. Okay, lots of folks never use them. But all serious photo snappers do. First, to shield the lens and prevent lens flare. Okay, everyone knows about the flare. But I've habits that are a throwback to my days as a wedding photographer, a long time ago and far, far away.As such I always kept a skylight filter on every lens as first line protection against damage to the front element of the lens. The hood is another element of protection. So while I've broken filters and hoods, I've never lost a lens. But these work well, with one issue for me. They'll screw into a Nikkor lens easily, but are sometimes difficult or impossible to screw into a Tiffen filter. I can't explain it, but I can work around it.

Works but has a minor issue with the zoo Nikon lens
Got this for my Niion AF-s 18-55 zoom lens. It is OK and when adjusted won't cut off part of the image with a 3/4 size chip camera. But the front of that specific lens rotates as you focus so the shade won't continue to line up. You can slightly loosen the hood and hold the hood so it won't rotate with the lens. But this is not ideal of course. Sadly that is an issue for any lens that has a rotating front part. But if you must have a shade to block the glare....this is the solution as any normal, non "tulip" type hood will not block much light and really is ineffective on this type of lens.Frankly I am not convinced that you would do just as well without any lens hood on this specific lens.

This was a great purchase, great price!
I was really disappointed when I lost my original lens cap to my Canon t6i lense. I found this on Amazon because I originally just needed a cap and I love it! The lens Hood helps me with video quality, cuz it keeps some of the negative light out. The lens fits very snug and it's not obvious that it was a different cover than the one that came with the lense.

Good enough hood, but the lens cap doesn't actually attach to the hood
I bought this hood because it claimed to be compatible with a lens cap. This would allow me to store my Nikon D3200 with the hood attached without worrying about protecting the glass. The problem is that the hood is not designed in a way that allows the lens cap to lock into it. Yes, the cap fits into the opening designed for it, but with the hood in-hand, you can lightly press your finger into the back of the lens cap to pop it out. A firm bump would also knock it out. So, I call false advertising on this part of the product description: "Pinch the sides of the cap and snap it into place." There is no snapping, only just enough tension from the springs to lightly keep it there.

Very pleased with the lens hood
Very pleased with the lens hood, have used it during a trip this past weekend and very pleased with results. I found the lens hood easy to fit and is secure during use. Also easy to fit in reverse stored position when not in use. The pinch cap is also very useful when swapping lenses as the other lens mainly used is also 67mm in size. Thank you Dave.

Good quality at a reasonable price...BUT double check your lens end!!
This product will fit the 58mm Canon lens with 3 tabs for securing the hood. Check your lens, if you only have the newer 2 tabs for securing the hood, then save your time, as this item is not going to fit. Otherwise the item is a quality item at a reasonable price.

Doesn't really fit that well on my 10-18 Canon. It actually fits better when put on in reverse, but when I'm putting it on normally it feels like I need to force it, and I'm afraid of hurting my lens. Haven't tried the lens cap, so can't comment on that. You get what you pay for, and for this you don't pay alot. Too bad Canon charges so much for their simple lens hoods.
