ZippoAmerican Flag Lighters

Been conflicted in writing this review since Zippo is an old American company based in Pennsylvania; so, here goes trying be sensitive to USA produced products; it's just a lighter after all.Bought a red painted slimline Zippo in 2010 from a smoke shop and it had excellent build quality and none of the characteristics below.Just received this American flag regular sized Zippo from Amazon a few days ago; there are a few differences. The hinge for the lid has a bit of lateral play/slop in it but the lid still opens and closes firmly. Next, the inside fuel case does not fit snugly enough into the outside case to prevent it from rising up a millimeter or so with each closing of the lid due to the lid cam; however, with the next press of the flint wheel, it seats again.Update 9/26/2023: Have used this lighter a bunch and found it to be rugged and reliable (I'm a pipe smoker); bought 2 more (for gifts) and found the newest ones to have the same characteristics - quite impressed with consistency of manufacture. Bumped from 3 stars to 5 stars - Happy Camper.

This is my third armor version & my favorite. It's absolutely beautiful. I also payed significantly less then the other I own with the first being lost. Looks much better in person and has to be one of the best. Thank you

I love Zippos and collect them here and there, but this one is to be used. First, I have to say that the picture of this lighter isn't to accurate; in fact, it's much "brighter" than it appears in the photo. The company's description is "Silver plate", and that is exactly what it looks like; I don't know if it actually is silver-plated (I doubt it), but that is exactly what it looks like! Lighten up the Amazon image by 50% and you will have a good idea of what this lighter really looks like.Unlike most Zips, this one is one of the "Armor" lighters whose casings are 50% thicker than the standard Zippo. Don't think that sounds like much? Take a 2x4 board and make is a 3x' board ... Stronger, no? Stronger, yes. 50% stronger! You can feel the difference in the using of the lighter. You've heard the phrase "a manly man", I'm sure; well, this is "a manly lighter" (Silly, I know, but it makes the point).It's a pleasure to hold, a pleasure to look at and a pleasure to use. It took about 2 minutes for this this to become my favorite "go to" Zippo of the many I have. Most of my Zippos are unused ... this one should never be. Buy it and enjoy it.

I collect zippo lighters and I have never had any problems with them. I bought this for a gift to a friend who also collects them.

This is my new favorite Zippo! The deep engraving is fantastic, the antique silver finish has a refined look, and the added weight of it being an Armor Zippo makes it particularly pleasant to hold. The only nitpicky issue I have is that they don’t put beefier hinges on the Armor Zippos, it’s just the standard hinge, and since the hinge is the weakest part of a Zippo, I can see this hinge failing sooner than a classic Zippo. Fortunately Zippo fixes any issue for free, and the few Zippos, with broken hinges, I’ve sent in to be repaired have always come back even stronger than they were originally.One suggestion for Zippo owners, not for this Zippo in particular, rather a general suggestion. You do have to pay for postage to and from when sending a lighter in to be repaired so, if possible, try to wait until you have two or more Zippos to send in in order to make the postage worth your while.
