My short AO Smith electric water heater kept tripping the upper breaker and I patiently did some troubleshooting on the thermostats and heating elements in the water heater as it happened a few times a week for about a months so when I finally realized I thought it's the bottom thermostat that was the problem, I purchased this one and it's a perfect replacement exact for what I needed and my water heater works fine now.

Identical to OEM (State 50 gal., 220v water heater).This was delivered within two days and took about three minutes to install. I also like the included replacement safety cover, as my original one was a little scorcher from the previous T-stat, when it failed.It’s working great and we once again have hot wa-wa in our mother-in-law apartment that I built onto our home roughly 20 years ago.Excellent product at an excellent price!I highly recommend this lower water heater thermostat! 😄

This thing was exactly like the original and had nice instructions for replacing it. This was the part of my water heater that was bad. Apparently there is no way to test for it. I had some plumbers come out at first and they told me that my elements were good, reset the thermostat and told me to call them if it continued to fail. The reset is actually on the top thermostat so I replaced it first, I ordered them at the same time but the top one got here first. These are easy to change, good instructions included, and very cost effective to a service call.

This thermostat works as advertised and is an exact fit on my State brand water heater. Ordering this part for less than $10 saved me at least $40 for the same thing online from other sources. More importantly, it save me hundreds if I had called a plumber to do what took me less than 10 minutes with a screwdriver! It arrived quickly although the supplier was probably knee-deep in hurricane-flooded New York City--my thanks to them for that! As an aside, I have learned a valuable lesson with this purchase: always check Amazon first (as I spent too much time trying and failing to find this part at two brand-name home improvement stores). Who would have thought I would find a hot water heater part at Amazon!

Heater had turned full on and the water became scalding hot. Replaced upper and lower thermostats and problem was fixed.

Item was easy to install. It was a fast ,simple installation using only a Phillips screwdriver.Fixed the problem of a non-working water heater. Item was USA-made using foreign parts. I understand that This part failure is a Common reason why water heaters stopped heating. For less than $14.00 the water heater is now back in business.
