Q: What size and how many batteries does this need.

4AA batteries .. Untwist ball, small screwdriver, center rotating part is where you insert batteries.

Q: Is there a way to turn the sound off but keep it vibrating?

It was a gift so I am told there is only one switch that turns it off/on. The kids are crazy about it.

Q: Would it work for blind dog, as it makes noise?

I wouldn't recommend this for a blind dog. It does make noise but it bumbles all over and may cause bumping on the face and feet, that may startle the dog easily.

Q: Would this make a fun cat toy? My cat loves to chase things, but unfortunately chases all of his small toys right under the fridge.

I suspect the average cat would probably be a bit intimidated by this thing. It's a lot larger than most cat toys, bounces around frantically and makes a loud cackling sound. I'm going to recommend that the cat have at least a couple beers under his belt before tackling this bad boy.
