Authentic Recruiting - Essential Read for Recruiters
In order to thrive as a Recruiter inside a company or on the outside as a search consultant, you must understand your client and where they are coming from. This is the first book i know of that practically and with very specific action steps (techniques) spells out how to succeed, how to understand where your client is coming from and as a Recruiter, what to do about it. There is plenty written on sourcing talent but almost nothing on how to manage the hiring manager relationship with the ongoing complexity, changing landscape and stress as a hiring leader today.Katherine understands that the ability to manage and develop this important trusted relationship today is the key to your success as a Recruiter. She is presenting techniques that truly matter when it comes to successful search and building partnerships that last. I love the chapters that reveal important techniques in a case study approach with real stories to support what she is recommending. One technique was called "how to get feedback that tells you something." And, another technique; "fastest way to build trust and credibility." Read these and share with your colleagues - it will make a huge difference in your trusted advisor role and how your managers see you as their consultant in identifying top talent.Katherine introduces for the first time - skill building tools for recruiting that really work. This has not been done in the business of recruiting at this level. I don't know what has kept us back in this kind of development, but we have it now with this simple to read and practice tool-kit. Her suggestions raise the bar on our impact as recruiters. I suggest this book for your team, your managers, new recruiters, or experienced ones. Take one technique and discuss it at your weekly staff meetings in Recruiting. Try this and you will be surprised and want to also take advantage of her numerous value added tools that can be downloaded as well.

Good for intent
Good read so far. Good to plan reading dates and check ins with the recruitment team. We are a corporate recruitment team so some of it is not relevant to what we do but relationship building with hiring managers pieces are invaluable. Would recommend to other talent readers

A Must-Read for Recruiters Who Want to Master Hiring Manager Relationships!
Katherine Moody has written the best book on troubleshooting hiring manager challenges that I’ve ever read. The Consultative Recruiter is packed with strategic tools to manage expectations and gain necessary agreement upstream—something every recruiter struggles with at some point. As a lifelong student of Socratic selling, I appreciate the powerful questions she includes. I find I use so many in my process. This book is my "go-to" tool when I need a strategy to move things forward in a collaborative, non-confrontational way. In fact, I reference it so frequently I’m sorta proud that my copy is well-worn and looks like a favorite old baseball glove—broken in, trusted, and always ready when I need it most.I've found so much value in this book that I bought and sent copies to my four favorite recruiting firm owners that I do an 8am “Power Hour” with every day. If you're serious about elevating your recruiting game and building better partnerships with hiring managers, this book is a must-read!Thank you, Katherine, for this incredible resource!— Jay Anderson

Good book but lots of typos
The media could not be loaded. So far so good. I’m surprised at the many typos in this book however.

Love it! I'm buying it for my whole team!
It's short and sweet (which is what we need as recruiters right!?!?). It's a non academic real world approach to best practices in TA/ Recruiting. I've been in recruiting for about 15 years and now manage a global team at a large manufacturer. This book well compiles what I've learned over the years and can be a great tool for either a leader training a team or a tool for an individual recruiter who is trying to learn what it really takes to succeed in this profession.

There are various you can apply from how to create a business partnership with your stakeholders to the art of pushing back to building trust and credibility. In addition, there are bonus reports and checklists, and even a very unique question library, and templates. I've personally connected with Katherine and is an absolute pleasure to speak with and learn from. Def. a must-have for your toolkit.

I have used this book for several years now as ...
I have used this book for several years now as a reference tool. Rather then discussing recruiting process (which can vary from company to company) this book addresses consultative communication which is a constant across all industries. This book challenges recruiters to dig deeper into the motivations of their hiring managers, creating a deeper understanding of the overall need and strengthening the relationship and advisory role the recruiter wishes to establish. This is not a book to read from cover to cover and put away - rather, this book is a reference to help navigate the stickiest and most challenging recruiting relationships and situations.
