BRING OUT THE MECHANIC IN THE YOUN'GEN, PURCHASED THIS FOR MY 10 YEAR OLD BOY, HE DID A TON OF THINGS WITH IT, LEARNING ABOUT NUTS/BOLTS/SPARS, STRINGERS, MECH. DEVICES, DID A SCIENCE PROJECT AT HIS SCHOOL, ABOUT AIRPLANES AND FLIGHT, KEPT HIM AT HOME DOING THIS PROJECT, AND GOT HIS SISTER INVOLVED, THEN THE WHOLE FAMILY, STARTED PUTTING THE IMAGINATION TO WORK, AND BONDING US. THIS IS AN INDIVIDUAL/FAMILY/FUN, LEARNING CONSTRUCTION, AND MATHEMATICS SET FOR ALL AGES, MATH, ONLY SO MANY NUTS/BOLTS, SO BETTER KNOW HOW TO COUNT, AND KEEP TRACK OF. Grandson is thrilled!
We sent this to our soon-to-be seven year old grandson for Christmas. He is in that phase of "I want to take everything apart so I can see how it works". So we thought this could be a fun and intriguing toy for him since you can see how everything works while it's in motion. He has enjoyed this set for a few months now and has nothing but great tales to tell of what he has built and what is next on his list. Highly recommended for those children who love to understand the inner workings of things!

Very Cool Set but Adult will have to assist
We got this for my 6 year old for xmas this year. It might have been a little much for him at his age but my husband and was able to help a lot with it. It is a very cool set other than the case does not keep the pieces in their spots if you carry the case and the little power screwdriver broke within the first 5 minutes of using it so if that's why your choosing this set don't count on it working or even helping that much. I am hoping with time my son will be able to accomplish it on his own. Also lots of small pieces so if you have little ones beware.

Quality Product
This may be an "old fashioned" toy but it is still a favorite. Any child that likes a challenge to build things will enjoy it. Package says it is for age 8 and up but an average 8-year old might find it a bit daunting. Our grandson is 11, has an aptitude for building things, but was still challenged. Of course, you don't want it to be too easy. I expect his interest will extend well into the following months.

One project.
To hard for a 10 year old. Doesn't really encourage the dismantlement of one project to build a new one. Instructions lack clarity and caused my grand son to start over several times.

Brings back memories.
As always, instructions are extremely limited but that's the point. Designed to make a child think, choose an option, proceed and rethink. No free passes with this (I hate to call it a) toy. What a revolutionary concept for our video and app driven culture. No instant gratification just a box full of life lessons.

Can I say more? Such a fabulous toy, who does not love the classic metal erector set? Saw this priced for way more, other places. the motors are fun, and there are lots of fun things to build with this. they carry case is well build and great for keeping small parts sorted!
