Very moving
I love a good war film and this didn't disappoint me. It has subtitles but I don't mind that to be honest. Great emotional historical film

Immersive film
Have been a lover of foreign films since the days of bootleg VHS and always willing to take a chance on something. I picked this based on reviews and was not disappointed. The first 20 mins i found were difficult to follow, but they are trying to explain the whole reasons for the story as well as introduce characters at the same time. Once they get to the warehouse it settles and you begin to invest in the store. And WOW what a story. The fact that this battle happened with hundreds of people watching from the other bank of the river is incredible and that its true. Blows my mind. This is a very well made film with a real passion for ensuring all the characters are given time to develop and grow . Even the Deserters who at 1st i felt deserved to be treated badly were redeemed. If your a lover of Foreign films don't hesitate buy it.

Chinawood is as bad a Hollywood
Well it is a well crafted film with great scenes, special effects and good acting. It is also good to see how China can make pretty impressive films. However it only follows a slim thread of the true story. While it was a classic military defensive engagement it is obvious that Chinawood like to spoil a cracking good story just like Hollywood often does. Here are just some spoiler facts:A. Yes a courageous NRA soldier did sacrifice himself and jumped off the building festooned with grenades. However it did not produce a lemming type effect occasioning dozens of others to do likewise.B. Yes the Chinese flag was raised on the roof of the building on bamboo poles and yes Japanese planes did try and shoot it down. They didn’t however slaughter the whole defensive line plus the reserves of the NRA in the process.C. Ahhhh yes, whose idea was it to put in the aquatic Ninja attack team in the water tunnels? FFS!D. By my reckoning the film shows a at least a couple of hundred slaughtered Chinese when the reality was ten. Yes ten dead, thirty seven wounded. Not much but then such was Rorkes Drift and that was also a heroic action.I also told my better half as I was tearing the film to shreds that I bet they don’t give a post script analogy to what happend to our incredibly brave Col Xie. Poor bugger was assassinated by the commies three years later so I guessed they wanted to keep that bit out huh!Anyway I could go on but despite this it is still a decent film. Think Pearl Harbour; a load of tosh but PH did get bombed. A pity as it is about true events where the story itself is gripping enough without the need for any embellishment whatsoever. This dramatic licence to over embellish what already was a classic historic and very courageous military action was embarrassing. Nearly as embarrassing as the amount of ghost profiles on here giving five star ratings in bad English?

Great Movie
Great movie but was amazed that when I preordered the movie, it was 12.99 and a few days later the price went down to 6.99. I never got a refund. I have been buying movies from Amazon for years. I think I will wait to order movies from now on.

Opened up a whole area of history I was not properly aware of. Excellent storyline and very well worth my time to watch.

A great War film about a real battle.
This is a great war film with all the classic stereo types in a good way. Yes it is very pro Chinese but this is ok it is a famous battle in recent history and worth getting out to the rest of the world, lavish sets large cast of actors nicely shot I'm sorry I did not get the chance to see it on the big screen. happy to recommend it did not give it a whole five stars only because the sub titles could be a bit more informative.
