The only reason I don't give this 5 stars is because the screw-on opening to the safe isn't completely flush with the rest of the bottom. Chances are, this isn't going to make a difference, but I think everyone would prefer that it was completely flush, especially since I haven't seen any candles that have bottoms like this that weren't diversion safes.On the other handle, this IS a REAL candle! The first thing I recommend everyone do upon receiving this candle is to light the wick and let it burn for a few minutes. This helps it achieve a more authentic look, further adding to its effectiveness.Quality: The quality is adequate, nothing special. I would prefer the candle to be a little smaller/less bulky, but it isn't so big to where it becomes a liability to its purpose. Some reviewers have stated that the wax crumbles--personally, I haven't had this issue. My candle is completely intact and looks exactly like it does in the picture, and hasn't crumbled a bit. Because others have experienced crumbling, I'm reluctant to say the quality is excellent, but it certainly isn't bad. As I said, the quality is adequate.Effectiveness: The overall effectiveness is very good. If the screw-on lid was completely flush with the rest of the candle's bottom, I would bump my description of its effectiveness from "very good" to excellent. For those who want to make it as effective as possible, I would recommend purchasing some cheap, similar looking candles to place with this one, because if this is the only candle in your house, it might seem odd to some, especially to a burglar who is privy to diversion safes. Lighting the wick is a must. It takes only a few minutes, and it certainly adds to its authenticity factor.This is definitely worth $23, in my opinion.

I got this for for me but gave it my friend's Son who wanted a place to hide a couple silver bars/coins. Its not much weight so it works out for him (some packing stopped anything inside clunking around, the silver actually gave the candle about the right feel/weight). After it burns in a bit the look of these are real enough. Behind other candles in indirect light it fits right in.Not exactly huge inside but these are good for many things. Odds are I will order another one for me. However since the local kid knows what it is I will probably go with something else. (Perhaps a book-safe since today's kids will not go near a book)

My 10 year old child asked why this candle looked so fake compared to all the others. She immediately picked it up and began picking at the bottom of it where the lid to the hidden compartment is. It's made of wax, but it kind of looks like plastic. I'm not sure this will fool friends or family members, but maybe a burglar. I got it because planned on hiring a new sitter to stay overnight occasionally and wanted a safe place to store my money. I tried lighting the wick to make it look more realistic, but the wax around it would not melt, even after 15 seconds under a torch lighter. It just made it look faker. I don't think this will work for me.

This safe looks and feels exactly like it should. My wife thought it was real pretty candle until I shared the surprise.I store some keys and cash inside, the keys are inserted in foam to avoid any rattle (I used the foam the candle was wrapped in).One feature is both a positive and negative; the bottom can be hard to grip, and screw off. This certainly increases the illussion of being nothing more than a candle. It also can make it frustrating when you want access to your secured goods.5 stars not 4, because in my mind 5 stars are for outstanding products, this is above average, to very good.

Looks real and is a pretty candle. I don't think anyone would think it was anything but a candle. Only thing that concerned me is you can hear things rattle inside if your not careful what you put in there. I like it better than the other safes that look like products because I'm always afraid someone might throw them out. I don't have to worry that anyone is going to throw this away.It's not going to do much good if someone picks it up and it's rattling. But it isn't bad enough that I would give it a bad review. I would purchase more.

Looks just like a real candle!! One thing I wish is that the box/containers they arrive in did NOT say it's a "safe"....be discrete - geez. I have to spend a bit of time shredding the darn pictures and wrappers that scream:::: SECURITY ITEM ! I will say this, that I've purchased several small safe items ranging from soda cans to this candle and I'll be darned it someone doesn't pick it up thinking it's the REAL THING - gig is up then. : (.............Who in their right mind walks through a person's home and helps themselves..... actually, many people do this, sadly. This is made of real wax and I did burn the wick too. It's a heavy candle. : ))..........Arrived on time as always. Tuck this in the back of a table maybe so it's not so out in front. Nice color green // mellow cream colored, neutral swirls.

This candle safe is great - just the right size, realistic look and feel, realistic weight. The only issue I have is that I burned it for a few minutes to make it look more real but I couldn't let it burn for long because it was melting the wax straight down along the wick and I was afraid it would reach the can inside before it was able to melt a wider hole in the top.

I bought this for my stepdaughter to hide her money, nice jewelry etc. it's great for that. It looks just like a real candle. Only problem is if someone picks it up you can hear any loose change or things in there. We just use foam or toilet paper to stuff in there and problem is solved. I also burned the wick a little so it looks more authentic!!
