Those just starting out will find the book quite useful, with the added advantage that you'd know where ...
Considering the dynamism of the web, this book is somewhat dated, especially for those already conversant with internet business, having been written in 2011. Those just starting out will find the book quite useful, with the added advantage that you'd know where to turn to for help in designing a great website with effective functionality. Tom Martin's Invisible Sale and Michael Hyatt's Platform rank higher in my estimation but they give no idea where to turn to for help regarding website design compared to this book. For those of us living outside the US, the biggest challenge we face is getting website designers of repute. So this book, which for all intents and purposes, is a great marketing tool for Alan and Chad, get's a good pass mark of 4 stars from me.

A Practical and Strategic Approach to Leveraging the Web
I found Million Dollar Web Presence to be enormous valuable in terms of its strategic and tactical advice on how to use the internet to drive better sustainable, profitable growth for professional services firms. It gives very specific insights on why a focused approach to leveraging the web can enhance your brand recognition and lead to much greater sales of your products and services quite literally all over the world. It also gives detailed specific advice on how to leverage your website, e-newsletters, blogs, Facebook page, LinkedIn connections, and Twitter communications. It is an ideal book for people who run a one-person or small professional services firm. It explains in detail how an individual can develop a strong repository of value that other people can look forward to receiving and sharing with others. If your customers are consumers or professionals who look to gain value from the digital world in some fashion, then this book will be a great resource for you.Within a few days of reading it, I made five specific enhancements to my website, created a new customized blog, and implemented a number of ways for people to share my content quickly and easily with others through their social media connections. Now I need to reread it and find more details on how to leverage the web.I also very much enjoyed the honesty of the authors in explaining the downside of social media and what to avoid.Overall, I believe you will find Million Dollar Web Presence to be a very effective tool for broadening your understanding of how to leverage what is largely available for very little cost on the internet.

Pretty good book on Branding and how to use Webpages to build your business
Chad Barr and Alan Weiss write a practical book on how to leverage your web presence and how it will transform your business and brand. It is a fairly easy read with some really good advice. The book contains 11 chapters and is only 240 pages. The best part of the book is offered in the first couple of chapters and the advice to create content that moves to provoke, rather than sell. A lot of people today try and sell you their product and what these two are offering is something different - they want you to provide the content, but do it by proving "provocative content"[1] and that will lead to sales.A good quote on content - "Content may be king, but provocative content is the ace."[2]Barr and Weiss offer plenty of more content that is good to know on branding (chapter 3) and myths and monsters (chapter 8). Overall, this book offers some good information, but I have seen better books out there on branding. It is still worth the money to purchase and gain some good information from the consulting experts. This book was first reviewed on Inteljim.com.[1] Chad Barr and Alan Weiss, Million Dollar Web Presence: Leverage the Web to Build your Brand and Transform your Business (Irvine: Entrepreneur Press, 2012), Kindle Electronic Edition: Location 604.[2] Ibid.

Million Dollar Value
This is the best book I have read about creating a web presence in the professional services marketplace, bar none. It is very clearly written with hundreds of specific examples and the suggestions are presented in a very accessible manner. Most web presence-related publications are overwhelming or too technical or just boring. A few are inspiring. This book is definitely one of the latter.Tom Schramski, PhDPresidentSalience Consulting Group

Great Adjunct to Alan's "Million Dollar Consulting"
I have only skimmed most of this book so far, reading the parts I need at the moment. And my web presence is nowhere in league with the examples discussed here. Due to the nature of the Internet, some of this material can become outdated too soon. However, the basic priciples Chad and Alan discuss are timeless. One of the best examples is Ch 10 on Social Media. I fully agree with the authors' that social media is way overrated (not to mention the major problems that surface over their misused by predators) and over hyped, and when used by business, e.g., "Like us on ____book", seems to be self-serving, getting the buying public to give companies free advertising, with the hope that eventually something will go viral (which I grant can happen). The discussion of how such works and the pros and cons allow for informed decision making. Their advise to not spend more than 30 minutes a day on such is a point I certainly agree with. The case studies and examples are also valuable to allow the reader to make informed decisons as to how and what to implement when.

Cuts through the crap...
This really is another great work in the 'Million Dollar' series. So many internet marketing books are filled with old advice or worse: marketing gimmicks that force your users to sign up to see your site. But this book cuts through the crap. It affirms, among other things, that generating valuable content should be your primary goal. If you're tired of the myths surrounding internet marketing, this book really lays out what you need, what works, what doesn't, and why. I highly recommend it.

A handy reference book for any self respecting entrepreneur
This book is neither fantastic or horrendous - I found parts of it a bit wordy and difficult to wade through and other parts really useful and informative. I like that aspects were interactive and have scribbled all over my copy. I would recommend this book to anyone that is considering setting up an internet business as I am sure that there is something in it for everyone. Some chapters of the book were more useful than others for me. I found the blog and social media chapters particularly interesting as they offered advice that I can implement immediately. As I begin to work on other elements of my site (help4psychologystudents), I will be re-reading other relevant chapters. This book is therefore great as a reference guide that can be dipped into when needed.Overall a handy, informative read, but as any self respecting entrepreneur should know, to make a million dollars (or pounds in my instance)it really is a simple as a little ingenuity and LOTS of hard work!

At last, a web-design book that focusses on outcomes not just processes
This is a rare book because it focusses on objectives. It is concerned more with developing a great website that brings in more business, rather than just developing a great website. In the book Chad Barr very cleverly combines marketing skills, and shrewd business strategy, with the technical know how to build a beautiful and effective website. The book is written in an engagingly frank, witty and down to earth style, that will be familiar to those who have read books by the second author, Alan Weiss. I loved the book and it will add value to any professional service firm who wants to improve their web presence.
