Best licorice.
Exact same as in Europe. Super chewy and really tasty.

i'm sure these are not for everyone, however MY main concern is they are too good. i almost considered taking a star off for my own weakness.

Just awful
I may gotten a bad batch or maybe it was because the bag wasn’t sealed but they tasted awful. No way to return the product. Very disappointing overall.

Delicious!
These taste exactly like they should; I've seen many reviews of non-Dutch people who say these are awful, but that's just because you're used to sickeningly sweet American licorice which has no resemblance to Dutch licorice. The hard sugary coating is perfect and breaks apart nicely to let me eat it first before delving into the salty chewy center. It's my addiction; I need a couple of these after lunch. My fellow countrymen will not be disappointed, and for those who want to try it, just have an open mind and remember it's not American licorice!

Bit of sweet without and a munch of salmiak within, and neither too hard nor too sticky
This is a great product that exemplifies the Salmiak Rondo. A bit of sweet without and a bit of salmiak within, and neither too hard nor too sticky. If you like salmiak you are quite likely to love these. One see a lot of negative reviews of salmiak products, what has to be understood is that salmiak is defined by the use of ammonium chloride. Any authentic salmiak product will yield a whiff of ammonia, though with these rondos that is somewhat diminished by the fact that the outer coat of sweet licorice hold it within. Just so you know, the very word 'salmiak' comes from 'sal ammoniacum' or 'sal ammoniack' (salt [from the Temple] of Ammon in Egypt, where the Latins first encountered the substance, 'ammonia' has the same source) which is the old apothecaries' term for ammonium chloride.

Not for me......
So the positive first......this is a big bag. A lot of value for the money and it was received next day delivery. Super fast. Now the negative....I previously bought a bag of Venco chalk licorice and loved it, so much so that I ate the whole bag in about 10 days. I decided to try these because I thought it would be the yummy licorice and the creamy filling of the chalk licorice without the white substance on the outside. IT WAS NOT. I don't even know how to describe this. It's just nasty tasting. The outer shell tastes a little like licorice and the inner "cream" (salmiak??) tastes like a salty something that I don't even have a description for it. Something fishy comes to mind. I know one of their ingredients is ammonium chloride so maybe that's it. I have read it's an acquired taste but after a handful, I may end up tossing them. Life is too short to eat yucky sweets. I've ordered another bag of chalk licorice and will stick with that.

Unbelievably Addictive
As a life-long American, I had never tried these until today. Wow.... One little candy packs a punch! I sliced one open to show newbies like me... Hard & sweet on the outside, soft & salty on the inside... With powerful black licorice flavor... These are not a chewy, or rubbery candy. I recommend you suck on them, slowly. Just ONE is sooo satisfying! Like nothing I've ever tasted. YUM!!!

Not your usual salmiakki
These are big, about 1 cm diameter, and have a hard sugar coating, with a chewy inside, sort of like a jellybean. The chewy inside is strongly licorice-flavored and is salty, but still has an appreciable amount grainy crystalline sugar. All in all they have rather too much sugar for my tastes. I'm giving them 4 stars (and that's maybe a bit generous) because they have sort of an "industrial" quality to them; if they were a bit smaller, the sugar less grainy, the licorice flavor more intense - what one usually thinks of as salmiakki - they would get 5 stars. Doubt I'll buy them again; I prefer the stuff made by Fazer.
