Q: Will these block sun enough?

Yes they do block the sun but blow all over the place when windy.

Q: Are these actually waterproof? A couple of reviews say they don't do well in the rain...

Not sure if you can classify them as "waterproof" but ours have weathered several very bad storms already and are still looking beautiful!

Q: Would these help with privacy day and night?

Just pictured, you can still see through but it does give you some privacy
