Thelema Tarot (Thelema Tarot, 1)

Fantastic deck... with an unfortunate quality control issue.
Firstly, as has been stated by many others - there is a problem with the way this deck was cut. I don't know if every single deck has been affected, or if it was simply a certain print run on it, but I did receive a deck that didn't have the corners on the left side rounded. This was unfortunate, but I solved the problem by using my own corner punch. I did the entire deck, all four corners on each card since my punch is a different size than what was already used on the right hand side of the deck, and now all cards match very nearly perfectly. It does still impact "riffle" shuffling for those who use that method, but I tend to overhand shuffle so as not to warp my cards, so it works fine for me. For the price of the deck, it's unfortunate that this is problem and that there are customers that have received such a poor response from Lo Scarabeo. The condition of the cards when I received them is the reason for the reduction on the rating, otherwise it would be 5 stars. All of that said, I am absolutely in love with this deck. That's saying a lot coming from someone who typically does NOT like digitally manipulated photos of real people used to populate the Tarot in a deck. It's usually quite off-putting to me. However, this work is predominately very well executed, in my opinion. I have a few decks that the same cannot be said for, ones that I had high hopes for that completely disappointed me when I actually got my hands on them. There are a few cards in this deck that are borderline in this regard for me - most of them are within the Court. They look almost TOO real, where some cards, such as The Empress and The Hermit, look more like beautifully rendered graphic illustrations. I'd love to have seen more consistency in that regard carried through the entire deck. The real show-stoppers in this deck, truly, are the backgrounds and the attention to detail within them. (I also love the fact that the deck is borderless - which I prefer in all my decks). They set such an ethereal, otherworldly feel to this deck that is just indescribable. In fact, I find myself drawn more to the background images in this deck than the main features or characters in each card - which really opens up all kinds of new ideas and possibilities in an intuitive reading. One wonderful example of this is the 2 of Wands. The background is expansive and invites your mind to wander across the landscape as you imagine the possibilities that lie ahead and dreaming of the future and planning it with the 2 of Wands. My main issue with this deck is that in some of the minor cards, I expected a little better execution. For example, the 5 of Wands simply features 5 upright wands with a "spark of energy" (from the book) rising up between them, with no people featured in the card at all. I would assume this was due to the type of artwork used and space available to execute it. When you read the description in the book, you can link the meaning to the traditional RWS meanings, but it is not clear simply from the illustration if you're one to stick religiously to the RWS symbolism in the cards. Also, in the 3 of Cups, there is a single woman present with three cups filled with grapes below her. It doesn't convey the same message visually as the traditional RWS illustrations do.Some of my favorites in this deck: The Star, 8 of Cups, Death, Knight of Swords, Ace of Pentacles, The Moon, Queen of Cups, 7 of Cups, 4 of Swords, 10 of Cups, The Fool, The Tower, and Strength. The Sun in this deck may be my all-time favorite execution of this particular card of any deck I've seen. The 4 of Wands is very traditional in its symbolism, but is one of the more beautiful executions of it I've seen as well. The only card that I really struggle with a bit is The Hanged Man - and honestly, it's a trivial point, but it's his hair that throws me off more than anything. LOL!All-in-all, this is a wonderfully executed deck that reads beautifully and is truly a feast for the eyes in many ways. It comes packaged upright in a beautiful sturdy box with a slip off lid. The same style of packaging as Lo Scarabeo's Mucha Tarot, for those who are familiar with it. The guidebook is printed in multiple languages, but is actually quite meaty in its descriptions, in my opinion. The English portion of the book takes up 74 pages of the total 128, including four pages devoted to the six-card "Thelema Spread".All in all, I'd highly recommend this deck, but I do hope that Lo Scarabeo will (or has) addressed the cutting issue with this deck.

Beautiful and Donβt Stick Together!
The images on these cards are just slightly holographic, unlike the mini-deck, but I love the illustrations either way, and maybe my favorite part is how they are thick and well-made, but donβt stick together. If you feel called to this deck, I definitely recommend it!

Nice cards but a bit smaller than expected.
Cards are pretty nice but way smaller than other pocket tarot decks I use for recording. I expected pocket tarot size not mini tarot. They are still nice but not very functional for my YouTube channel.

MY NEW FAVORITE DECK!!!!
I almost didn't purchase this deck because I read some bad reviews here on Amazon about the quality of the cards. One person wrote that the corners weren't cut properly, another wrote that the deck contained duplicates, and still one more said that there were cards missing. Well, I don't know what happened there, but the deck I received couldn't be more perfect. I couldn't upload photos tonight to show you, but I'll try to edit this review later and possibly add some pics. It truly is a remarkable and completely perfect deck of tarot cards. The artwork is beautiful and the meanings of each cards true to origin. I resonated with the cards immediately and I've now moved the deck to the front of my stack because it's quickly grown to be a go-to favorite. I couldn't be happier. I can only assume whatever the problem was in the past has been fixed, so I recommend not paying attention to the old negative reviews. Buy the deck if it appeals to you. If it doesn't arrive as expected, you can always return it. As for me, I love mine and am keeping it! :)

Stunningly beautiful and complete deck -- mine had no faulty corners, no faulty printing no faulty laminating.
This deck is astoundingly beautiful! Just about every card looks like a piece of art. The court cards, while still beautiful, are a bit stilted -- but that's sort of how they come across in the Rider Waite deck as well. It's just pure joy to look at each of these cards. They are not completely true to the Rider Wait symbolism but they are astoundingly beautiful and like with any deck if you study it enough and really learn how to relate to the deck your readings should be fine. But for me right now, I'm still learning the basics of reading -- so I'm sticking with the Rider Waite until I GET IT.I guess for me, they are SO stunningly beautiful, I'm kind of distracted from the stories that the deck might tell me. This might subside with time and practice. Where you might be like "oh yeah." vs "oh wow! this is so luscious and beautiful!"I hope to get some photos for y'all to see. If not, google videos about the Thelema deck and you'll get to see each of the cards in various video reviews. But in case someone was on the fence wanting to get these -- get them! My deck has no issues with any of the corners. The cutting, color, and lamination are all lovely. I have yet to shuffle them though. But the deck that I bought from Twin Lens Media was and is perfect -- no flaws in the cardstock, printing, or cutting. You'll know best if you want to make this just an "art deck" or if you want to make this a "working deck".Thank you Lo Scarabeo, for an amazingly beautiful and magical looking deck! I was initially worried b/c I had found like 4 duplicate cards but I still got a complete and lovely set. So -- as long as I wasn't short changed -- I welcome the spares.

Beautiful artwork and good little book.
I'm just getting into tarot properly just now, have the original Rider Waite Smith deck which is brilliant for learning from and they will always be my originals, but I saw a video of these on YouTube and immediately liked them and felt like I needed to get them. From what I can see with my beginners experience of reading the cards, they do match quite closely to the original RWS designs albeit there are some small differences, but they are more modern and for me bring it all much more to life, to make the scenarios on the cards seem much more like reality. I love the symbolism which the artist put on the cards, and the pictures just have something beautiful and magical about them. You get a small book with the deck, which I'm surprised to say is really good because it describes all the small symbols on each card which mean something which you might miss otherwise, and the short descriptions given for each card are really good. I've seen reviews about the quality of the cards being not the best. I can't see any issues with that so far, however they're still brand new just now, so I will reserve my judgement on that for now, but otherwise I love them and am looking forward to working with them. The artist who designed these did an amazing job.
