this is a nice unit, a bit too soon for the laser to go bad. I have been told by other users that is a short coming in these units. when it works ,it is great. sounds great , I should have listened. sending mine in for repairs tomorrow. have to pay shipping both ways. not so great. these units for the price, should last longer. Amazon shipped really fast, Nothing against them .I should have read more on this brand before purchasing .

Has pretty much everything I like
I still use cassettes also and it would be helpful, for the price if the key control would also work for the cassettes...and the speaker isn't the greatest (40 watts x2) I just purchased a speaker to use with it to give it a better sound. so for what I use it for...it is ok

VocoProDVD Duet
The product is overall decent in quality. It is the shipping that is the problem. The order arrived on time and on unpacking I heard a big rattling sound and also the sound of small screw size objects making sounds in the unopened box.On opening the box and taking the unit out the sound was more pronounced.Considering that the only big objects in the speaker cabinet are the speakers, I believe that the speakers had gotten dislodged during shipping.Reading the other reviews I believe that Amazon is being short changed by Voco Pro and receiving defective product from California.I repacked the unit and shipped it back. How do I then know that the quality of the product is good overall? It is because my wife has used one for over three years without much problems except that the cd's skip at times and the tracks skipping sticks at times.Eventually the cassette deck broke and there is NO ONE in Ohio that can fix this system or cares to.What a shame !Also considering that there are not many other karaoke players that carry reviews it is difficult to make a decision on buying another system online. The local shop told me, " we only sell the stuff..we don't fix any of it. For that you have to contact the manufacturer"DISGUSTING to say the least.

Sorry I bought this, Junk
I will admit to reading the reviews before buying this item, and there were some good and bad reports, and I chose to order. I totally regret this purchase and would return it in the blink of an eye if it wouldn't cost so much. I've use it maybe 20 times and trouble from the beginning with the cassette doors not opening. I have had a Mega Star for almost 25 years, but the cassette players were both were not working right, so decided to give in and finally buy a new one but could not find another Mega Star. I got on Amazon and did read the reviews, some very bad, some good. I am interested in making copies of old tapes onto new ones so I can then make a CD. These are my own tapes that were recorded at our Church Singings since 1957.... I have bedroom that I've converted into my music room. NOW, I received your machine, but being sick did not use it for about a week or so. I finally got to use it and I'm sorry to say I really don't like it... The sound is not clear. The volume button has a lot of static when turned. The recording side is now not recording and the open button will get stuck and not open. The right side is really slow in FF or rewind. When I am able to sing with background music, the volume over takes the mic your singing into. I've tried other mic and it's the same thing. Overall, I'm afraid I spend over $300 dollars and with nothing but SS that is a big purchase, and I'm pretty much still am without a good working product. Guess I am used to the better machine, and it's wonderful little gadgets that I used all the time. Like voice and key change to name a few. I am keeping this, it would cost too much to return, but I am a very disappointed customer at this point. I am 73 years old and still sing at Church. I do my own background vocals ,meaning singing the Tenor and alto, but sing the lead when I sing, and now am not able to do this or anything else pretty much.....Thanks for listening to my complaints. I hope you can improve on your future products. Linda Ferguson

I just got it yesterday!!
I just got it yesterday and I tried it and it is in perfect condition. I can't understand the bad reviews this little machine sounds great! I needed a machine to practice and then listen to myself and the sound is not bad. Even the cheap mics don't sound bad even though I don't need them because I have my own mic (sure) These are great for practice. I connected it to the TV and you can see the lyrics of the song. So far so good I will let you know how it goes when I start recording and discovering new things the good and the bad. If you are thinking of buying a karaoke system that has more of a professional sound and plus right now it's on SALE, I definitely recommend the vocopro.

my dad is a gifted musician and had this machine years ago...we had been looking for another to replace it after if wore out. The price is the only downside but I finally managed to "bite the bullet" with the help of a slight price reduction on Black Friday. He is now 81 and still his music is a daily part of his life. He is enjoying recording himself and being able to dub over and add himself both playing another instrument and sing another harmony part so worth every cent!
