Blazing fast laptop
This thing is a beast of a laptop. It handles the most intense graphics on full without batting an eyelash. For example, I can play The Witcher 3 with all of the graphics on and full throttle, on a 1920x1080 screen it never drops below 130 FPS. It never drops below 60 FPS at max resolution and 300mhz.Additionally - MSI customer service is world class. 7 days after receiving my laptop, something shorted out on the motherboard and it would not power on. I submitted an RMA ticket through the MSI site, and instantly got a response approving my repair. I sent it in and received my fully repaired laptop back in just a couple of weeks. It was more than I expected.UPDATED: I’ve successfully added a second (2nd) SSD - Seagate FireCuda 510 2TB - I’m getting full speed performance out of this thing. It was easy to do for anyone who knows what they’re doing. If you’ve never personally added a component to a laptop before, I STRONGLY suggest you bring it to a professional or at the very least search for videos about adding an SSD to this particular model AND CAREFULLY FOLLOW ALL OF THE STEPS!

Maximum Power - Minimum Cash
I bought the GE66 Raider primarily for work related use. I run various optical design and sound processing programs that use a bunch of RAM. In the current COVID climate I'm working more from home and thus needed a portable solution to replace the desktop that's currently sat in my office. This looked like the best compromise of price and performance. I was also drawn by the ability to increase the RAM further up to 64GB if needed. So far so good, no complains about performance. Everything I've done so far has run smoothly but I am already eying that RAM upgrade just because I can see how it could increase my productivity because I could have even more things running in parallel. For me the neon lights and keyboard are just a distraction, thankfully they are easy to turn off. The level of customization for the illumination is really impressively detailed though - you can pick individual keys to light up in your choice of color so I could see them being useful for other applications. Physically the keyboard is middling for long term composition or data entry, but you're probably going to have a separate keyboard for everyday use. For a few hours in transit it's good enough. The overall build quality feels pretty solid - the hinges for the screen in particular are wobble-free which is reassuring for longevity. The size is great, fit's easily into carry on bags and the like, while not being obnoxiously heavy. It is a gaming laptop though so it isn't going to win you any style points when on display in public. This is of course mainly due to the requirements for temperature management - a thicker body means more space inside the casing with more room for cooling air to flow when you're burning up the processor. At this point the fans will have kicked in and boy are they loud. I have friends that are hard core gaming dorks, their opinion of the noise was mostly 'meh, that's normal'. If you're coming from the super chic world of slender brushed aluminum cases it's likely to be something to consider. For me using it just for work I can wear headphones and in the evening migrate back to another laptop for general usage. The large nerdy case does have its advantages though - lots of room for peripheral ports (three USB-A, two USB-C, an HDMI 2.0, a mini-displayport, a headphone jack, an Ethernet port and an SD card reader)! An Ethernet port! Not seen one of those in a while, but it turned out to be right on time for me as I recently needed to SSH into some custom gateways and couldn't find my old USB dongles anywhere. So far so good, it's early days but with hardware that should future proof me for a good couple of years I'm happy with the purchase.

Desktop performance in a small form factor
Laptop can max out basically every game at 1080p ultra , you’ll be getting at least 70-85fps with everything maxed out. It can also do 4k medium for recent games, and ultra for games created before 2017 or so. This is a gaming laptop so Im just going to skip to the important stuff, performance...You can use this laptop in a few ways...Play on medium and get 140+ fps on 90% of games (RDR2,Control, Witcher, Ghost Recon, Tomb Riader, AC Oddyssey)Play on Ultra and get 70-90fps (games mentioned above)Play on Ultra at 1440p 55-80fpsPlay newer games on medium 4k at 50-65fpsTemperatures are good, GPU never goes above 75C and the CPU never goes past 85C (at least not for long)I highly recommend this specially considering its a Full Power RTX 2070 Super which is equivalent to a desktop 2070
