It's real 360 brass, but it's not exactly 3/8" - it's 9.5 mm.
You know, you can't easily put a 3/8" dowel into a 3/8" hole. The dowel either needs to be a bit smaller or the hole a bit larger. The rest of the world is pretty much metric these days. I do a lot of brass-work and actual diameters can be quite important. These 360 alloy brass rods (and brass IS an alloy with there being several other types of brass alloys) are only 14" long. I needed to cut some pieces that are 7-1/4" long. So, I ordered some 3/8" 360 brass rods from Onlinemetals.com where I could get them in any length in multiples of 12 inches. I ordered several that are 24" long. But when I tried inserting them in a long, 3/8" cherry hardwood hole, they wouldn't easily go in and it took a lot of hammering before it went all the way through. I have a smaller piece of this 3/8" brass rod from Favordrory and my digital caliper reads it as 3/8 inches but also exactly at 9.5 mm. If you do the math (25.4 mm/inch x 0.375 inches), you will get that 3/8" equals 9.525 mm, which my digital caliper rounds up to 9.53 when measuring the diameter of the brass from Onlinemetals. The so-called 3/8" brass from Favordrory went into identical holes a whole lot easier than the real 3/8" from Onlinemetals. The point is to understand that the approximately 3/100" smaller brass rods sold here are a tiny bit smaller than 3/8". For my purposes, this 9.5 mm rod was fine. But if your project requires a tighter fit, you may want to look elsewhere. Otherwise, I have absolutely no issues with these 14" 360 brass rods. (Does Onlinemetals have 360 brass rods in 9.5 mm diameter? No, only 9 and 10 mm, neither suitable for my needs. I'll need to lathe off 3/100" to more easily use them.)

Some kind of brass
The description was accurate, these are 1/4" brass rods with a nice finish. I asked what kind of brass this was, whether 260, 360, or something else. So far no response. This is probably 260 brass. It machined OK but not as well as 360.

3/8” brass rod.
I used this brass rod to make a custom pedal support for an antique grand piano. Worked beautifully and looks fabulous. Better than the original which was painted black. Brass matches the solid brass casters and brass pedals.
