Alxum NVMe M.2 SSD Enclosure, USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type C to M.2 SSD Hard Drive Enclosure Supports M.2 NVMe M Key SSD 2280 2260 2242 2230, with USB-C and USB 3.1 Cables

I got it to open easy enough but had a few issues with getting it working with a WD Black SN750 to start with. However, after turning the C cable around and pushing it in a bit stronger, it worked fine and recognised the SSD. Regarding, the heat dissipation, I thought it was quite good and didn't notice the temperature going crazy or anything. Also, note this only supports PCIe and not SATA.

Good quality item, does exactly what I need it to. Connected to a Mac mini via USB C, with a Dataram 1tb drive I get around 900mb/s both read and write. Doesn’t get too hot either, was at first a bit worried the package didn’t come with any heat pads but I have transferred around 500gb to this drive so far and it didn’t get that hot at all. Happy with this purchase!

This worked perfectly with my Samsung 970 EVO Plus PCIe NVMe M.2 and my older Samsung OEM PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD that came with my Dell. It comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB 3.0 to USB-C cable and I have tested it with both. It has a nice and compact case but does run quite warm.

Installed a 1TB M2 SSD and used command strips to attach to the lid of my MacBook. This has doubled the mount of storage for video editing on the fly. So far so Good

Very good product, I’m using it as a caddy for recovering data from dead laptops, used it once so far and seems good, quality and durability look good too.

Returned this as the plugable one is better value for money, although a bit more expensive.

Ho comprato questo case che veniva indicato come 'versione precedente' rispetto al nuovo che invece è un 3.1 gen 3. A mio avviso cambia poco anche perchè il gen 2 già arriva a 10 GB che comunque non potranno mai essere sfruttati con la tecnologia attuale. Inoltre lo sconto del 30% mi ha permesso di prenderlo a 20 euro. Esteticamente mi piace molto. E' in alluminio, ha delle scanalature di ventilazioni. Non fori, proprio scanalature. Infatti è uno dei case piu' freddi in assoluto che abbia posseduto, e posso assicurarvi che alcuni messi sotto stress diventano delle vere e proprie stufette. Questo no. Monta perfettamente le ssd m.2 pcle 2280 kay-M. Dai miei test effettuati funziona bene. Ho montato una ssd non particolarmente performante che viene letta senza problemi. Ci ho installato una distro linux e ci gira fluida come se fosse collegato al bus interno. Quindi direi che anche l'elettronica è di buona qualità. Il kit è davvero completo, ci sono viti di ricambio, un cacciavite, due cavi di ottima qualità usb-c usb3 e usb-c usb-c. Tutto il packaging è molto curato nei dettagli.

Excellent build quality, amazing throughput, but the heat dissipation can be improved. This housing has no vent holes and depends on radiant heat to cool the chip. In my opinion this lets the chip get too hot inside the housing because the chip does not contact the external housing in any way from the inside when it is placed inside the enclosure. Basically there is about a couple millimeters of air all around the NVMe/SSD when it is inside the enclosure allowing the chip to get very hot. So the drive get very hot before the enclosure soaks up that heat. Very inefficient. So what I did which works very well is that I bought on Amazon the M.2 thermal pads which are light blue and are sold by a company called SGTKJSJS. These pads act like a heat sink and you install them on the NVMe. Remove the protective clear plastic on each side of the pad to expose the adhesive and adhere it to the chip. You’re going to need two, one on top of each other like pancakes so that the pad get thick enough to make contact with the top of the inner area of this enclosure. 2 pads do the job. Once ready you can slide the SSD gently into the housing carefully without shearing the heat sink pad. If you do this modification, heat from the surface of the NVMe will be drawn away from the chip through the blue heat sink material as the pad is making contact with the aluminum housing from the inside, basically making the housing a more efficient heat sink. You can tell this is working because the housing becomes much warmer, faster than without the heat sink material installed, indicating that heat is being drawn away from the SSD more efficiently. I have used this in this manner for a very long time without problems or incidents. These NVMe’s run very hot so it makes sense to do what you can to help them run cooler and last longer by lowering the heat.

Mit dem eloxierten Aluminiumgehäuse macht es einen soliden und wertigen Eindruck. Es ist wirklich unempfindlich gegenüber Kratzern oder Fingerabdrücken, die durch normale Nutzung sonst schon mal entstehen können. Die entstehende Abwärme der SSD wird ausreichend abgegeben, wenngleich kein direkter Kontakt zwischen der SSD und dem Gehäuse besteht. Eigentlich für USB3.1 Gen2 gedacht, ist es aber auch abwärtskompatibel auf USB 3.1 Gen1 und sogar USB 2.0. Der SSD-Einbau ist unproblematisch für jedermann machbar. Für den unvorsichtigen Anwender gibt es sogar Ersatzschrauben gratis dazu.Klein, leicht, handlich und schnell. Ich könnte mir tatsächlich kein besseres Produkt für diese Anwendung vorstellen! Gut gemacht Alxum!

J'ai récupéré mon disque dur de l'ordi en panne, j'ai inséré ce disque dur dans le Boîtier USB 3.1 Alxum NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD, et j'ai fait les réparations nécessaires sur le disque dur à l'aide d'un autre ordinateur.J'en sus tellement content que j'envisage de l'utiliser en permanence.
